    1. But though I was initially disappointed at being categorized as an extremist, as I continued to thinkabout the matter I gradually gained a measure of satisfaction from the label.

As long as you are an extremist of a good thing, like love, its true it is a good thing. Additionally, this aligns with his dislike of the white "moderate." He's saying that its better to pick a side and be an "extremist" than a moderate

    2. Let me take note of my other major disappointment. I have been so greatly disappointed with thewhite church and its leadership.

Again, MLK is likely referencing the clergymen he is writing to and many of their colleagues.

    3. I had hoped that the white moderate would see this need. Perhaps I was too optimistic; perhaps Iexpected too much.

This likely also is refering to the white clergymen who he is writing too. They likely agree with his goals but did disagree and criticize his actions.

    4. MY DEAR FELLOW CLERGYMEN

He was writing to 8 white clergymen who previously criticized his actions in Birmingham and said that he was too much of an outsider to do anything in Birmingham

    1. What is your typical reading workflow? How do you anticipate it changingwhen you socially annotate?

I tend to read through texts too fast, and then go back into the text to actually understand what was written down, but I think public annotation, and any annotation in general, will help slow down this reading process and help me to understand the text to a fuller degree.

    2. Whatever your social annotation workflow, I encourage you to take timeto reflect on your reading purpose and summarize what you’re taking awayfrom the conversation.

Reflecting on what you read and your annotations personally helps me better understand the text. I think that annotating/summarizing at the end could help with this reflection by making the important points clearer. Also summarizing the text should help you remember the text because repetition builds memory.

    3. What other affordances might social annotation tools offer?

I think being able to have a conversation through online social annotations is a really cool idea. Since it allows people to share their different viewpoints and respond to the original annotater, it helps me think deeper or differently about the topic.

    4. If you are composing a longer annotation, you might use line breaks asin the Genius example to separate points and make your annotations easierto skim on screens

I love using bullet points or some similar method to separate multiple ideas which might otherwise be hidden in a large paragraph. Turning them into easy to read segments makes it so much easier (for me at least) to review what I've written. I will definitely be doing this or simply using bullet points if I end up making longer annotations.

    5. Socialannotation also gives you a chance to revise your thinking before you share

Agreed. Besides giving you a chance to edit your words and think about what you're going to say, social annotation also gives you new perspectives to look at and might help you rethink and revise your writing in that way.

    6. Whether written into the margins of texts, integratedinto the print, or digitally superimposed, in what contexts have you encoun-tered annotations written by another person? In what ways have you sharedyour annotations with other readers?

The only time I've been shown somebody else's annotations or gave my annotations to somebody else is if I asked somebody or somebody asked me to proofread a paper. I have never done any type of social annotation like this article talks about before.

    7. What experiences haveyou had with annotation? How might those experiences prepare you to read incommunity with others?

Although I find annotating helpful, I don't often annotate what I read since I find it time consuming. However, I definitely try to annotate when I read a really dense text or article so that I can understand it better, and if I re-read it, my annotations can help me understand the text quicker.
