    1. k5 Elon Musk [@elonmusk]. Trashing accounts that you hate will cause our algorithm to show you more of those accounts, as it is keying off of your interactions. Basically saying if you love trashing *that* account, then you will probably also love trashing *this* account. Not actually wrong lol. January 2023. Elon Musk's tweet about the effect of interactions on Twitter's algorithm highlights the intricate nature of social media recommendation systems. It sheds light on how user behavior influences the content they are exposed to, reflecting the complexity of algorithmic personalization on platforms like Twitter.

    1. Now, how these algorithms precisely work is hard to know, because social media sites keep these algorithms secret, probably for multiple reasons: They don’t want another social media site copying their hard work in coming up with an algorithm They don’t want users to see the algorithm and then be able to complain about specific details They don’t want malicious users to see the algorithm and figure out how to best make their content go viral

The secrecy surrounding social media recommendation algorithms raises concerns about transparency and accountability. Without understanding the inner workings of these algorithms, users are left in the dark about how their online experiences are curated, which can lead to issues of trust and manipulation.

    1. Social model of disability. November 2023. Page Version ID: 1184222120. URL: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Social_model_of_disability&oldid=1184222120#Social_construction_of_disability (visited on 2023-12-07).

People are definite health problems that could bring negative effects to their work or study that contribute to social constructions, this is kind of cruel Isn’t it.

    1. As for our experience with disability, Kyle has been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder [j8] and Susan has been diagnosed with depression [j9]. Kyle and Susan also both have: near sightedness [j10]: our eyes cannot focus on things far away (unless we use corrective lenses, like glasses or contacts) ADHD [j11]: we have difficulty controlling our focus, sometimes being hyperfocused and sometimes being highly distracted and also have difficulties with executive dysfunction [j12].

It seems like the disabilities are a kind of disease that will affect your study/work.

Information safety is gonna be one of the most important part those social media concern, as users definitely cannot ignore the risks and keep using the APPs, improve the information security might be really helpful to keep the users from leaving.

I don’t understand this, first of all, if people can only use different passwords, won’t it be actually even easier to be guess by others? Also, its gonna be a giant work for us to create a completely new password when we start a account and it could be hard to remember them all.

    1. h2 Kurt Wagner. This is how Facebook collects data on you even if you don’t have an account. Vox, April 2018. URL: https://www.vox.com/2018/4/20/17254312/facebook-shadow-profiles-data-collection-non-users-mark-zuckerberg (visited on 2023-12-05).

This is interesting to see exactly how a bot run such large data and run it precisely. However, this example is kind of scary—our personal information is stolen by the bots! What if they want to sell our information to others?

    1. This is because sometimes different pieces of data line up coincidentally (coincidences happen), and if you try enough combinations, you can find the coincidence that lines up with your conclusion.

This is more likely to find a large trend instead of building a specific graph, isn’t data should focus on the exact numbers?

    1. Gregory Pratt. Cruel online posts known as RIP trolling add to Tinley Park family's grief. Chicago Tribune, August 2013. URL: https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/ct-xpm-2013-08-12-ct-met-rip-trolling-20130812-story.html (visited on 2023-12-05).

I really can’t imagine how sad and painful this family must feel when they see these malicious comments. This behavior is absolutely extremely selfish and has no consideration for other people’s feelings, I suggest the Facebook should strengthen the filtering and review of comments to avoid more malicious comments (trollings) like this.

    1. Punish or stop: Some trolling is in service of some view of justice, where a person, group or organization is viewed as doing something “bad” or “deserving” of punishment, and trolling is a way of fighting back.

I'm just curious as to why funny comments with just intentions are classified as troll?

The world around us didn’t actually change, so the change in our view will not bring any changes to what we could see: a world full of rumors and conspiracy theories.

    1. In order to loop a set number of times, we can use the range function to effectively make a list of numbers to go over, so we can loop that many times. For example, if we wanted to ask “Are we there yet?” repeatedly, 10 times, we can do this:

Where should I put sleep in this code? Just after the print?

    1. Elon Musk [@elonmusk]. @Andst7 I hereby challenge @paraga to a public debate about the Twitter bot percentage. Let him prove to the public that Twitter has \textless 5% fake or spam daily users! August 2022. URL: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1555950698252181507 (visited on 2023-11-24).

As bots are sophisticated and hard to catch, bots problem had grown bigger and bigger, I guess the problem definitely are causing damages much more that the 5% Elon Musk mentioned in his post.

    1. The Dictionary data type allows programmers to combine several pieces of data by naming each piece. When we do this, the dictionary will have a number of names, and for each of those names a piece of information (called a “value” in this context).

It seems more likely a combination of many variables.

    1. c12 Gender Pay Gap Bot [@PayGapApp]. Gender Pay Gap Bot (@PayGapApp). March 2023. URL: https://twitter.com/PayGapApp (visited on 2023-12-02).

What can this bot do: When Loughborough University tweeted in celebration of International Women’s Day, the Gender Pay Gap Bot automatically quote tweeted pointing out how much less the median salary of women was then men at Loughborough University. Thought: we should have a similar bot inside the firms to remind them not to forget to care about woman workers in this important day.

    1. We also would like to point out that there are fake bots as well, that is real people pretending their work is the result of a Bot. For example, TikTok user Curt Skelton posted a video claiming that he was actually an AI-generated / deepfake character:

The problem here is not the trolling stuff but that people are losing the ability to define AI from real things, AI is learning, human should also need to keep learning to “stay in the same place.”

This part seems like you are under a kind of super action while you are using social media, however, in my personal opinion, these action and policy are actually protecting us from lot of risks like online swindle.

    1. Act with unforced actions in harmony with the natural cycles of the universe. Trying to force something to happen will likely backfire. Rejects Confucian focus on ceremonies/rituals. Prefers spontaneity and play. Like how water (soft and yielding), can, over time, cut through rock.

I’ve learn about this theory during my philosophy class, Zhuangzi and Lao Tzu highly praise to avoid any fictitious factor from everything, but eventually this turned out its not a good suggestion to rule a kingdom.
