Objectives: Develop updated estimates of lives saved and cost-effectiveness measures (cost per life saved, cost per HIHT) for LG programs in Uganda and Kenya using 2021 program monitoring data, forthcoming external evaluation (randomized controlled trial) results, and an external data source such as DHIS2 electronic health records. Review and build on previous methodology and estimates from deterministic models using data from 2019 – June 2020, and the results of our first RCT with IPA on 2010-2013 data from our program in Uganda Update existing analytical decision support tools and potentially structural upgrades of this. You will work alongside a diverse team of engineers, developers, and security advisers to design, architect, and drive improvements across OpenAI.

We’re looking for multiple Research Engineers to join the Alignment team. Potential focus areas/projects include: Aligning large language models to follow instructions Training models to find flaws in other models’ outputs Exploring ways to efficiently train from human feedback Training models to assist human feedback About the Role As a Research Engineer on the Alignment team, you should be able to: Write performant and clean code for ML training. Independently run and analyze ML experiments to diagnose problems and understand which changes are real improvements. Write clean non-ML code, for example when building interfaces to let workers interact with our models or pipelines for managing human data. Collaborate closely with a small team to balance the need for flexibility and iteration speed in research with the need for stability and reliability in a complex long-lived project.
