Jasper Jackson. Donald Trump 'writes angrier and more negative Twitter posts himself'. The Guardian, August 2016. URL: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/aug/10/donald-trump-twitter-republican-candidate-android-iphone (visited on 2023-11-24).
I found this article very interesting because clearly there is data to back up the claim that the person using Presidents account is different depending on the device the tweet came from. The person from an iPhone seems much nicer than the one using android.

A knock-off designer item does not offer the purchaser the same sort of connection to the designer brand that an authentic item does.
I found this very interesting because i often see videos or posts of people showing off their shoes, watches, or cars. But i always question the authenticity of those because now there are so many high quality reps that telling the difference between real and rep is very little. Even Though the fake items look very similar the connection one has to an authentic item cannot be faked.

I decided to go check out this site myself and was shocked with the activity it still had. People were posting about current events around the world and posts had tons of interactions. For a site that has been around for this long i expected there to be very little activity, but this makes me realize people still appreciate the freedom of speech over nice UI/UX which newer social media provides.

The book Writing on the Wall: Social Media - The First 2,000 Years [e1] by Tom Standage outlines some of the history of social media before internet-based social media platforms such as in times before the printing press: Graffiti and other notes left on walls were used for sharing updates, spreading rumors, and tracking accounts Books and news write-ups had to be copied by hand, so that only the most desired books went “viral” and spread
Reading this for the first time i had to take a step back and really think about what even was social media before the internet, but i came to realization that social media has been around since humans. My definition of social media has always associated with internet but social media is really the interaction of humans with other humans, the internet in fact has changed this meaning with the possibility of human to ai interaction also considered social media.

How do you think about the relationship between social media and “real life”?
I think about this relationship on a daily basis. Everyday i encounter something on social media that makes me question this relationship, and majority of the time my reaction to what i am seeing is not real life.

Act with unforced actions in harmony with the natural cycles of the universe. Trying to force something to happen will likely backfire.
I have always understood Taoism as letting things come to you rather than trying to chase them, in other words attract what is meant for you. This summary aligns well with my understanding and what i have learned about taoism.

Julia Evans. Examples of floating point problems. January 2023. URL: https://jvns.ca/blog/2023/01/13/examples-of-floating-point-problems/ (visited on 2023-11-24).
Floating point is a topic that i have always found confusing. But this article did a really good job of simplifying the concept and showing great examples.

Sounds are represented as the electric current needed to move a speaker’s diaphragm back and forth over time to make the specific sound waves. The electric current is saved as a number, and those electric current numbers are saved at each time point, so the sound information is saved as a list of numbers.
This made me realize just how much of the information on how peripherals is abstracted away from the user. Whenever i use my phone for music i never had to think about how exactly are the speakers creating the sound. Reading this now i understand how apps like spotify are storing the songs and how they are translated to actual sound through the speakers.

This source was very interesting because it shows how a high review count on App Store might not be accurate. Many times I personally use the reviews to decide if I want to download an app but now I will have to rely on my own judgment rather than the reviews

Bot programs are written by one or more people, potentially all with different intentions, and they are run by others people, or sometimes scheduled by people to be run by computers.
Ethics is very important to be considered by the programmers when making bots but should users that possibly interact with bots also be held to a certain ethical standard?

making fake crowds that appear to support a cause
This is a very interesting point because at times if I see someone purpose an idea I check their following and if it’s a high number I give it credibility but not often do I check if those followers are real
