      As I understand it, Bordieu's cultural capital is concerned with the amassing of high culture knowledge, i.e. the reading of books that are considered high culture, so is it really a materialistic divide? Obviously, there's a correlation, but is division by wealth really the main point?

      I'm not sure I understand this distinction. There's a canon of Western literature and it is considered high culture, isn't it? Yet, it is decidedly also popular culture, because those works are considered classics, so isn't it more about the regard of a particular work?
