    1. "I am affected, not because you have deceived me, but because I can no longer believe in you."

      This quote simply is stating that a person does not have to directly tell a lie in order fro you to not believe i them. The key is the word "in". he says i can no longer believe IN you. rather than i can no longer believe you. He is saying that a person may no have to deceive you in order for you to lose faith in them s a human being. They ma have displayed a sense of poo moral judgement or you may not agree with their practices or beliefs so although they have no lied or been false, you still do not believe in them as a human.

    2. Whoever has seen deeply into the world has doubtless divined what wisdom there is in the fact that men are superficial. It is their preservative instinct which teaches them to be flighty, lightsome, and false. Here and there one finds a passionate and exaggerated adoration of "pure forms" in philosophers as well as in artists: it is not to be doubted that whoever has NEED of the cult of the superficial to that extent, has at one time or another made an unlucky dive BENEATH it. Perhaps there is even an order of rank with respect to those burnt children, the born artists who find the enjoyment of life only in trying to FALSIFY its image

      I think what Nietzsche is saying is that people who believe they have seen deeply into the world do nothing but prove that we are a superficial race. These people believe they have a deeper wisdom and more profound understanding of the world but this is in fact untrue. They feel that they NEED to uphold this image. Nietzsche recognises that some people may be born slightly different and understand things differently to others however these people seem to get enjoyment out of life only by falsifying its image. Nietzsche does not believe in this heirachy of people that feel they have a better understanding. All it is proving is that man is false.

Need I say expressly after all this that they will be free, VERY free spirits, these philosophers of the future—as certainly also they will not be merely free spirits, but something more, higher, greater, and fundamentally different, which does not wish to be misunderstood and mistaken? But while I say this, I feel under OBLIGATION almost as much to them as to ourselves (we free spirits who are their heralds and forerunners), to sweep away from ourselves altogether a stupid old prejudice and misunderstanding, which, like a fog, has too long made the conception of "free spirit" obscure. In every country of Europe, and the same in America, there is at present something which makes an abuse of this name a very narrow, prepossessed, enchained class of spirits, who desire almost the opposite of what our intentions and instincts prompt

      Nietzsche is saying that the word or phrase "free spirit" is wildly incorrect within current cultures. He believes that the actual term free spirit is something far greater, higher and indifferent all together. The way philosophers today use the term so often has undermined its value and now its meaning is much smaller and more narrowized. This means that we cannot distinct between what being an actual free spirit is and what the common term of today's society is. This is a problem and something needs to change in order or the phrase to restore its true meaning.

    4. What is most difficult to render from one language into another is the TEMPO of its style, which has its basis in the character of the race, or to speak more physiologically, in the average TEMPO of the assimilation of its nutriment. There are honestly meant translations, which, as involuntary vulgarizations, are almost falsifications of the original, merely because its lively and merry TEMPO (which overleaps and obviates all dangers in word and expression) could not also be rendered.

      Language d he way we say our words has a huge impact on the listeners ability to understand it. What Nietzsche is saying is that we cannot translate the tempo from one language to another. This means certain things people say can only be slightly translated an therefore we cannot fully understand what someone is saying due to our language barriers. We must be careful of this when reading a translated text such as this one as we have no idea of the tempo of the original text. we must recognise this and understand our limitations at times when reading.
