      I love the awareness of this riff. It empathizes with Ted, but in a bitter way that recognizes that Ted is not able to be reasoned with.

      This sentence sets the tone for the rest of the essay so well. Really like the way it comes out of nowhere, how I'm sure that text felt.

      I really like this whole paragraph, but I think this sentence is a little underwhelming. It seems to me that the author's brother found life a LOT more interesting after touching death, which would have made for a more compelling sentence in my opinion.
