    1. Basketball requires lots of running up and down the court, so it is imperative to maintain your physical condition so you can play your best from the beginning of the game to the end.

      At basketball practice, we run a lot because we play against a lot of ranked teams that are faster than us and because he wants us to stay in shape. My team and I also eat a lot of healthy foods to stay in shape do that we don't pass out on the court.

    2. If you’re in high school, good grades will help round you out as a full “package” and make you more attractive as a student-athlete.

      My grades are really good. I stand at a 3.1 average. I hope to be able to play at Kennesaw State University because I feel that I could get more playing time.

    3. If you have a playing skill that is particularly strong, make it your own.

      My playing skill is shooting and dribbling. My coach puts me on the wing because the point guard on the team knows how to get me open for the shot and because I can feel my hotspots on the court.

    4. A private coach can give you personalized feedback to help you grow more quickly as a player and work on weak areas of your game.

      I have my own private coach because he knows everything about me. He knows what I struggle in and what I am best in. He wants me to play at my highest potential.

    5. Increasing your physical strength will enable you to make shots from farther away and muscle around people who guard you. Start a strength-training regimen with a coach who has an understanding of basketball.

      I have had a physical trainer for about a year and a half. Every time he see's me come into the gym, he says to me," We are going to work until you can't stand anymore". He believes in me and he knows that if I ever try to quit, he won't let me.

    6. You become a stronger and more strategic basketball player when you are challenged by someone whose skills are superior to yours.

      This statement helped me get better at basketball bc on my old team, I would be guarding people that are 6 feet tall and I am only 5'10". Every time they score, I would take notes and used that same strategy against them.

    7. Try to maintain a strong shooting average: At least 60% average from the 2-point field goal, 40% from 3-point line and 75% from free throw line.

      I want to make it into the NBA one day. Shooting is my strong suit because I make most shots that are not usually attempted. On my aau team, they call me "Three Trey".

    8. Contact an agent in the U.S. to help facilitate important meetings to get your professional career on track.

      I haven't gotten to this point yet, but when it comes I will be prepared for any obstacle that comes in my way. I know I got what it takes to be a professional basketball players. My number one rule is to never give up.

    9. Add some intensity to normal running and practice drills by increasing their difficulty.

      In my old neighborhood, there was a big hill that I used to run up and down when I was conditioning. That hill impacted me really good bc it also helped me to jump higher than I ever could.

    10. A basketball team can’t function with a roster full of prima donnas because it is a team sport.

      On my old basketball team, me and one of my teammates always got into an argument after every game bc he wanted to be everything on the team. When I left the team bc of that, they were lost on the court bc I was the one who leaded the team.

      I agree because on my aau basketball team, we all know each other really well so we know how to use everyone's strengths on the court and we play until the game is over.
