    1. The story’s charm disguises the invasion of privacy at its heart: the way technology is both eroding our personal boundaries and coercing us in deleterious ways.

Honestly I see is the same gossip here that i have saw when I was a teen, the only difference here technology which has a wider audience range from different places. I think that we do what we have done all the time, gossip about people, make up stories, and invade people privacy. It is wrong. It breaks my heart people wouldn't stop and think that maybe she or he was married and could have destroyed a relationship because they decided to have 10 mins of fame.

    2. Actress Rosey Blair and her boyfriend spun an adorkable story about what they perceived to be a budding love affair between the two, and Twitter was entranced

Can I just say that the word "perceived" is a key word to me? I mean people should really mind their own business. That is how rumors starts since always, someone thought they "saw " something, and gossip about it. we really don't think about damage we can make to other people for what we "think" we saw!

    1. Internet vigilantism has a checkered history. In April 2013, amateur detectives on Reddit used screen shots of security camera footage to identify two men as being connected to the Boston Marathon bombing. The New York Post put the image on the cover under the headline “Bag Men.”

This can be very dangerous, we might want to be "Sherlock Holmes", but in reality, we might be destroying someones future for an attempt to "help" . we really need to be careful what we say and post in social media

    2. It’s important to dox Nazis,” said Andrea Grimes, 33, of Alameda, Calif. She held a sign that read: “White people pick one: Be the problem. Be the solution.” She said she had “outed” white supremacists to their parents, which she said often worked well to stop bad behavior online.

Where do we draw the line? who is in charge on deciding what is right and wrong? Does the end justify the meaning? Doesn't shaming people in public bring more injustice to the plate? Doesn't violence bring more violence? I draw the line when i know people is or will be getting hurt in any way. You see, we need more empathy in this world.

    1. . The ‘pile-on effect’ of the coronavirus is that, during the global COVID-19 pandemic, interruptions to education can have long term implications — especially for the most vulnerable.  There is a real risk of regression for children whose basic, foundational learning (reading, math, languages, etc.) was not strong to begin with. And millions of children who have already been deprived of their right to education, particularly girls, are being more exposed to health and well-being risks (both psychosocial and physical) during COVID-19.

      Pile-on effect. well described

    1. But this is particularly important for the most vulnerable student populations who need additional supports to ensure that their educational needs are met. The state is well-positioned to provide districts with guidance and resources to provide students access to the additional supports to fulfill their educational needs.

i agree that we need to ensure the most vulnerable kids have access to education, and resources to not be left behing

    1. While school closures may be necessary to slow the spread of the virus, they can adversely affect both parents, who might have to take off work to care for their child, as well as students, particularly low-income students, who rely on school meals for lunch.

Many times we think about social distance, but we dont really think about kids who rely on lunch to have a proper meal for the day

    1. “No one wants to do the hard thing unless they’re forced to do it,” Ms. Gratzer said, “and our kids have always been the hard thing.”

I do not think anyone would volunteer to do the hard thing, unless its very passionate about the matter

    1. Standards have been slow to emerge to inform the accessible design of classroom instruction. However, the literature features a number of promising investigations on how to bridge the gap between assistive technology and the universal design of learning materials (Abell, Bauder, & Simmons,; Auchincloss & McIntyre,; Doyle & Giangreco,; Hoffman, Hartley, & Boone,; Pisha & Coyne,).

Eventho changes have been many, for kids with dissabiities. Now with the COvid-19 theywill be left behind if not forgotten.

    2. The need for accommodations and modifications emerges when there is a mismatch between the abilities of the user and the requirements of a product or device. For example, when an instructional designer creates an audio file, and fails to understand that a deaf individual would like to have access to the information, a barrier is created. Or, when a designer assumes that everyone can use a standard computer keyboard, access barriers are created that prevent individuals with physical or cognitive limitations from interacting with the computer. Similarly, when curriculum developers assume that all students can read at grade level, the language, vocabulary, and sophistication of argument that they use, can create barriers for some struggling students that prevents them from accessing the general curriculum.

I think that with the unknown on how school would work, it will have many barriers. As many children do not have access to computers, or may not have knowledge on how things are set up for them to do the work, they will have many stones on their way to archive education.

    1. But when people suggest “things will never be the same,” they’re talking about something deeper, about how we live—about our habits, norms, and ways of living. For parents, teachers, and students, it’s possible that some aspects of schooling might not go back to the way they were before.

things will never be the same

    1. n this way, we can make the most of the crisis to help redesign better systems of education and child development.

we need to do something to better our system of education for all kids

    1. Gee, color me surprised that he almost immediately declared this as a priority as opposed to dealing with the ongoing pandemic and rise in cases across the country or police reform..

Thats very true. Suddenly he forgets people are in big trouble. That US needs a leader not a clown. just sayong

    1. To be clear, there is a law that defines domestic terrorism but not one that charges people who commit acts of terrorism in America. People who conspire with international terrorists—even if they aren’t materially involved in an act of violence—are charged with “acts of terrorism transcending international boundaries.” But someone who sends pipe bombs to Democrats; plows through a crowd of anti-racism protesters in Charlottesville, Va.; or shoots up a church in Charleston, S.C., will not face domestic terrorism charges.

I think no body would badmouth their home. People just see, hear, what is in THEIR best interest. Of course there is no going to be a law, as they know only radicals would send pipe bombs or massacre people whom dont agree with them.

    1. I’m going to state this again, but if you look at that loop above you’ll see this is about a seven second operation. You can absolutely do this every time before you share. And given it is so easy, it’s irresponsible not to. I’m not going to tell you you are a bad person if you don’t do these checks, but I think in your heart you already know.

its imporant that if we are sharing something. we make sure its as much acurate as possible. we cant be part of the chain that shares false info.

    2. Maybe you think you do this, or you can really “recognize” what’s fake by looking at it. I am here to tell you that statistically it’s far more likely you’re fooling yourself.

its true, sometimes you see a article or something of facebook, even a pic stating what is going on there, and next thing you know, you realized its fake or worse, you end up believing that that was the way it happened! We really need to dig a little dipper in search of info!!

    1. What happens now? The case before the supreme court hinged on whether the Trump administration followed proper procedure – not whether it could legally end Daca. The court agreed Trump has the power to end the program. That leaves open the possibility that Trump could have another go at scrapping it, though it would be difficult to do before the November election – and largely unpopular with voters. So Daca survives, albeit still in limbo for now. Will it start back up again, allowing new applications? If the program had been killed off, Dreamers faced the immediate threat of deportation to the countries where they were born but many have no familiarity with.

its hard to think that we can just be deported.

    1. It's almost an act of resistance. We didn't see ourselves reflected in what we loved to watch as a child, so we created our own narratives despite being showed our representation didn't matter.

      act of resistance!

    2. An example of narrative extraction is the practice of Black fans claiming cartoon characters as Black. In these cases, the animated characters are either racially ambiguous, nonracially defined, or even nonhuman, and yet Black fans and children find a way to pull the narrative closer to themselves by assigning Blackness where it fits. For me, that list includes Patti Mayonnaise and Skeeter from Doug (1991–99), Arthur and D. W. from Arthur (1996–present), Goofy and his son Max from A Goofy Movie (1995), and the Pink Panther from The Pink Panther Show (1969–80). Some of the characters had darker complexions, sure, but others just felt Black to me. They were Black by behavior. Black by their humor, their resilience, their style, and their cleverness. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized I wasn't the only one who pulled cartoons closer to me by racializing the characters. Sarah

    1. As coronavirus has spread across the U.S., so have reports of violence against people of Asian descent, and the FBI warns of a potential surge in hate crimes. These fears have led to the creation of a website for reporting such attacks — and it has registered more than 1,000 incidents in less than two weeks.

      maybe project??
