Introduction
Hello, I’m Derek (I also go by the name Weblearning) . )
Thanks for peeking behind the curtain. This is where I work behind the scenes. You are very welcome to look at my annotations. I’d be really pleased to hear from you.
Mission 1 - Introductions You are invited to do three things 1) create an account on hypothes.is (here’s mine) 2) Take a look at one of the eight tabs (choose your speciality). Put on your critical thinking hat. I can be messy. Can you see where the errors or holes are? 3) Annotate the section that you are looking at with Hypother.is.
I’m pushing this whole thing onto GitHub. But I can't do this by myself. I need contributors who can pick up any errors or problems before I post it to Github. .Or subscribe for regular updates?.

To avoid the inevitable technical problems, students should practice with e-assessment technology and address common technical hitches and glitches early on in the semester.
When I construct my course, do I include a dummy run in my design. So that students can test things out beforehand. i often use a syllabus quiz as a dummy run. This "kills two birds with one stone". You can check to see if students have read the syllabus and if they can use the assessment tool. .

Biometric Information. Based on your consent, we may collect and use your biometric information for safety, security, and identification purposes.
Biometric identifiers is data gleaned from fingerprints, palms facial recognition (see Wikipedia). Europeans are probably going to be resisting this. The GDPR prohibits the processing of biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying natural persons (Dentons). Europeans have to give their explicit consent. The rest of us?

It is a truth universally acknowledged that human beings naturally inhabit an open ecosystem
This is an incredibly broad statement? The open ecosystem that I see is dominated by the global north. This relationship is extractive, colonial and is not globally representative. We are mainly hearing the privilege voices of the north. Of the 54 scholars, 27 are from Europe, 13 from North America. Its clear that within the open movement. There is a clear failure here to see the Euro-American epistemic hegemony and domination,

Notwithstanding the above, Zoom will not use audio, video or chat Customer Content to train our artificial intelligence models without your consent.
This is what I see. Zoom TOS are saying that conversations can be used in any way they wish. Including to train AI. But then they have added this highlighted clause. So the don't use your audio and video to train AI, but they can if you consent. And this consent might be presumed as given by me agreeing (without any choice) to the ToS

I'm needing some assistance here. There are a few syllabus templates that I have seen. University of Delaware has a nice text one. I have downloaded that. I also like the MODEL-SYLLABUS by John Carol University.. I have also downloaded that syllabus. But need to make a local template. Any advice?

the pertinent factors relating to OER adoption amongst HEI lecturers
Consider: What prevents the adoption and use of OER materials among current lecturers in your institution. Is the OER adoption pyramid” (Trotter & Cox, 2016) a suitable framework to use to categorize adoption factors in your institution? Please elaborate.
-
Reasons given for lack of OER adoption in the Global North and South
Consider: Table 1 lists a number of reasons for lack of OER adoption in the Global North and South. Which of these nine reasons, do you think applies best to your institution? See if you can identify the top three reasons (or add others).
-
Introduction
What are the benefits of OER in the global south for students?
Students with devices, can access learning m materials (when they are suitably licensed or in the public domain) legally and at minimal cost. (Access)
Study materials (depending on the license) can be adapted and modified by lecturers and students (student centered)
These improved learning materials can become locally relevant. This ability to contextualize knowledge allows allows a lecturer to move away from depending on publisher's materials, usually intended for a global north context.. (collaboration)
Learning materials may be translated (depending on expertise) to vernacular languages. Thus addressing epistemological barriers. (improved learning)

Libraries have the reputation of always being at the forefront when it comes to adopting and using new technologies
Librarians often lead the way with technology. And the internet of things introduce a whole lot of possibilities. IFLA imagines something called smart bookshelves” with stacks in the library equipped with RFID (radio frequency identification). RFID, we can figure out very fast where a book is located (to within 20 cm).

This article was written in 2009 and it is interesting to see where things have changed and where things have stayed the same. For example, Once upon a time Google's intent to index all the worlds information sounded a bit like a library. But I am not sure if Google and libraries still have that common goal of indexing information ? My recent experience of Google has not been the free flow of ideas. Rather, its been the algorithm driven recommendations. They seem to often offer me search results that pertain to selling stuff than serving up information. The romance phase is a good way to describe this honeymoon period between libraries and Google.

Did you share news or information during the pandemic via messaging platforms and on social media
As an information professional, did you share healthcare information via your phone? You’ve reacted and sometimes responded to them.
How active a role did you play in with collecting, reporting, analyzing, sharing and responding to news on devices. Do you only agree with what you read, support the author with a like or share, and ignore the rest. Or were you ambivalent and perhaps want to negotiate a point or respond to what has been written. Perhaps you saw a need to compose an alternate view that disagrees. . We would like to know your News Habits and Activities. So please fill in this online questionnaire

Where did librarians get their inspiration from? Did they see other ideas online. Were they given instructions from someone in management. Or did they see a need and made a plan?

What happened to those people who could not access devices and platforms? What did libraries or civil society do to address this access problem?

infodemic
Good definition of the term "infodemic" by WHO. ..."too much information including false or misleading information in digital and physical environments during a disease outbreak. It causes confusion and risk-taking behaviors that can harm health. It also leads to mistrust in health authorities and undermines the public health response". https://www.who.int/health-topics/infodemic

general public’s abilities to appreciate this heritage as a tangible expression of the period of our recent past, the period of a highly socially oriented society.
As a first time visitor to Ljubljana, I was very interested to see the mid century modern traditions in the Zaloška Cresta area where my guesthouse is located. From my very brief impressions, it seemed to me that residents did have an appreciation of the spaces wherein they were located.
