The 1950s also saw the rise of a new form of study: the randomized control trial, a clinical trial that in its ideal form was a double- blind study in which one treatment, usuallya drug, was compared to anotheror to a placebo such that neither the doctors nor the patients knew what treat-ment the patients were getting.
I learned about the “double-blind” clinical trial method in statistics, which is performed in such a way that neither the performer nor the subject knows what treatment they're being given, what drug they're being given, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on.

Overall healthcare costs were over $2 trillion in 2011, prescription drugs accounting forabout 10 per-cent, or $203 billion, of that amount.fIgure1 “‘Are You the Picture of Health?’” poster for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Screen for Life Campaign. Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Campaign for Colorectal Cancer Screening (retrieved May 5, 2005, from www.cdc.gov/screenforlife).
“2 trillion” sounds like a horrible number, and it's in U.S. dollars, so I can't imagine how big a number it is. In sighing at the number of spending so big at the same time I can understand, my family is also open a chain of drugstores, although not every day business is very good, but in our family drugstore there are too many old customers, they are sick or small illnesses have to go to see a doctor to buy a drug, who did not have a few boxes of medicine stored at home this year!

Maternal practices begin in love, a love which for most women is as intense, confusing, ambivalent, poignantly sweet as any they will experience.
Motherhood is both pure and complex, it is paradoxical, when a mother has her baby it is the equivalent of having a soft underbelly but at the same time it is armor, motherhood is strong, which is mixed with love, hard work, labor, and tears!

dventure has no place in theanthropologist’s profession; it is merely one of those unavoidabledrawbacks, which detract from his effective work through the incidentalloss of weeks or months; there are hours of inaction when the informant isnot available; periods of hunger, exhaustion, sickness perhaps; and alwaysthe thousand and one dreary tasks which eat away the days to no purposeand reduce dangerous living in the heart of the virgin forest to an imitationof military service ... The fact that so much effort and expenditure has to bewasted on reaching the object of our studies bestows no value on that aspectof our profession, and should be seen rather as its negative side. The truthswhich we seek so far afield only become valid when they have beenseparated from this dross.
In this passage, the author is trying to told us that anthropology as a profession is not as interesting as people as think it is, which is often characterized mundane and challenging experiences. Although the tedious and boring anthropology annoys the author it is ultimately a great way to gain a great deal of knowledge about cultures around the world, both good and bad.

With over 1,550 specimens from at least fifteen individuals, the site is the largest collection of a single hominin species found in Africa (Berger, 2015). Researchers are still working to determine how the bones were left in the deep, hard to access cave and whether or not they were deliberately placed there.
From this paragraph I learned that there are a large number of fossils of apes and monkeys that resemble human ancestors buried in South African soil, and that this site would be a great resource for human biologists if they want to keep digging deeper about the origins of these hominins.
