    1. When the US was attacked during the second world war no one asked, “Can we afford to fight the war?” It was an existential matter. We could not afford not to fight it. The same goes for the climate crisis.

I don't like that the author is comparing the climate crisis to an attack on the US. I know we need to start somewhere. However, the climate crisis is a world wide issue not just ours. The world governments need to get together and come up with plans as a whole to fight the crisis.

    2. You could say, though, that America is lucky: we have such a poorly designed tax system that’s regressive and rife with loopholes that it would be easy to raise more money at the same time that we increase economic efficiency. Taxing dirty industries, ensuring that capital pays at least as high a tax rate as those who work for a living, and closing tax loopholes would provide trillions of dollars to the government over the next 10 years,

I agree with this statement I feel that the tax system is very flawed. Start taxing those that work in the higher levels of government, closing the tax loopholes for the rich. And start being more mindful on where the tax dollars are going.

    3. Trump’s focus on the industries of the past, like coal, is strangling the much more sensible move to wind and solar power. More jobs by far will be created in renewable energy than will be lost in coal.

As a country we have so much natural resources available that we have not even tapped into. We as a country need to use these resources. Wind and Solar power is expensive and not economic for most Americans.

    1. Many people think of plagiarism as copying another's work or borrowing someone else's original ideas. But terms like "copying" and "borrowing" can disguise the seriousness of the offense:

When we use the words "borrowing or copying" we are minimizing the fact that its still plagerizm. We have to cite and give credit where it is due, to the original author, songwriter, painter, photographer or even media creators, to name a few.

    2. But can words and ideas really be stolen?

Absolutly, If it is written, sung, or even said (depending on the situation), these examples can and have been stolen, If its not your original idea or you do not site properly, you have stollen the words.

    3. Most cases of plagiarism can be avoided, however, by citing sources

This is so true all we have to do is to give credit where credit is due. Cite your work!

    1. Those who post about political or social issues at least sometimes on social media have a greater chance of seeing social media as effective for raising awareness for sociopolitical issues than those who post rarely or never in 16 countries.

Those that post often on social media tend to put their views out for the world to see, and they see so much more on social media compared to those that limit the amount of time they spend on social media. The ones that post often are like the squeeky wheel. They speak loudly and often and they are going to be heard by the public. Whether their opinions or posts are accurate or not.

    2. Majorities in every country also agree that the internet and social media are making people more informed about current events happening in other countries.

With social media we are seeing more and more information about things that are happening in other countries that we would normally not see. With the rise of streaming services we are not as likely to watch the local news to get information we go to social media.

    3. This sense of threat is related to the widespread belief that people today are now easier to manipulate with false information and rumors thanks to the internet and social media.

I agree with this statement. The younger generations are taking what they are seeing and hearing on the internet as fact without doing their own research to find out if it is truth or not

    1. They must connect students with their unique talents and interests, dissolve the division between academic and vocational programs, and foster practical partnerships between schools and the world of work, so that young people can experience working environments as part of their education, not simply when it is time for them to enter the labor market.

I agree with this statement as graduates we are poorly equiped for the actual job. We get enough info to barley get a job and we are told we need to learn the rest on the job. Studentd need to be better equiped to enter the labor market.

    2. But the world of work has changed so profoundly since then, and continues to do so at an ever-quickening pace. We know that many of the jobs of previous decades are disappearing and being rapidly replaced by contemporary counterparts. It is almost impossible to predict the direction of advancing technologies, and where they will take us

This is a increadably true statement. The technology that we have today is making it harder for those of us that were born in the 60s, 70's and early 80's to compete in the job feild today.

    3. Education should enable students to become economically responsible and independent.

I am a parent of 2 graduates. One that has graduated college and one that graduated with her AA and high school within 2 weeks of each other this spring. I have seen the impact that it has had on my oldest. He is struggling to pay off the huge amounts of student loans, along with just trying to survive as an adult. He has to share a place with 2 other roommates just to be able to be on his own. I also see the costs of my daughters tuition and expenses that she will have once she goes to college this fall. I am also dealing with student loan debt. I went back to school 3 years ago to become a nurse. I am now in RN classes. Over my time in school there are classes that I have had to take that did not pertain to my major. These are classes that I was required to take but I will never need it after I graduate. These kids today walk out of college with insurmountable debt and have no idea how they are going to pay it back. The requirements and fees to get an education are rediculous. Things need to change. Schools need to change the requirements and make education affordable.
