    1. Reason is the capacity of consciously making sense of things, establishing and verifying facts, applying logic, and adapting or justifying practices, institutions and beliefs based on new or existing information.

I agree with this statement because without reasoning there is no evidence or facts proven that information that you have given may be true. So therefore it important to be able to reason with logic and be able to present the information that has been given with facts.

    2. Religions have served a variety of purposes for humans. Many ancient and modern religions provided explanations for the creation of the world, animals, and humans.

This statement can be true in some aspects because during that time religion was never question it was always this is how it was and that how it's was going to be. so therefore people believe what was told to them and than pass the same theology that was told to them to the next generation.

    3. The Enlightenment stressed that we are products of experience and environment, and that we should have the utmost confidence in the unlimited capacity of the human mind

I agree with this statement because if you think about it every experience that we go through whether it's good or bad. We as humans know that every experience we go through we are able to overcome these experience. Experience is like a life lesson that teaches us not to repeat the same mistake but help us to learn and grow as an individual.

    1. There is no objective “truth,” there are only evidence-based conclusions and well-reasoned arguments that I agree with and communicate with others based on my social worldview.

Based on the passage , I believe there is some true to this but at the same time you cannot only agree with others based on how you may see things because others may see them differently from your worldview you have to be able to see things from a different perspective so that you can see the bigger picture of the situation.

    1. Critical thinking requires that we consciously listen to messages. We must focus on what is being said – and not said. We must strive not to be distracted by other outside noises or the internal noise of our own preconceived ideas. For the moment we only need to take in the message.

I think it important to focus on what being told and to tune out the unnecessary voices because that they only way you can be able to understand and learn from the other person perspective. by that you can be able to expand your knowledge and be able to take something away from this message and maybe implied this lesson to your own personal life.

    2. Critical thinkers avoid jumping to conclusions. Critical thinkers take the time to systematically examine a message. Critical thinkers apply accepted criteria or conditions to their analyses.

I notice at times humans can often rush to conclusions and not try to fully understand what the speaker might be trying to say , often times the other person feel that their ideas are better or that their ideas can be more helpful instead of giving the speaker a chance to express their message across. this is something that many people often lacks because they are so use to their own ideas instead of being open to what others might suggest . and the few people that do open to listen to others are the ones that are more knowledgeable and wise in many aspects

    1. Social scientists may develop a hypothesis for the same reason. A hypothesis is a testable educated guess about predicted outcomes between two or more variables; it’s a possible explanation for specific happenings in the social world and allows for testing to determine whether the explanation holds true in many instances, as well as among various groups or in different places.

This statement in general is accurate in so many ways because there are times when social scientist want to find evidence to something that may be true , social scientist also want to be able to connect to something that happen to be involve with society and also the people

    1. Sociology is the study of groups and group interactions, societies and social interactions, from small and personal groups to very large groups

This statement is important because its gives an overall view of what sociology is about and what it consist of and how sociology can impact people in smaller or larger groups

    1. R. Kelly gave an emotional and explosive talk, defending his innocence in his first interview since being charged with sexual abuse.

Based on the story itself. It only have shows that R Kelly is proven to be guilty because a person who feels intimidate and have to act very aggressive to a point where he trying to convince the audience that this is not who he is and that these allegations coming out about him are false. For an example : When you hear allegations or rumours that are being said about you . The first person reaction will be defensive / in denial mode because they believe the lie that they are saying to themselves are true but instead it far from the opposite of what they want to believe. And Not only that they want to keep their Reputation and Power that is control because when something is Negative it leaves a stigma that can be effective for life. Why? Because people will always remember what you have done in the past. And you past will always be brought up regardless of the situation. You can determine whether or not if the person is telling the truth is by observation . And what I mean by that based on the image that has been shown about R Kelly the first observation is his body language but if you know you are not guilty and believe these allegations to be false than why are you behaving in this manner. Now this can varies both ways if he was not defensive/ showing any emotions proving that he was innocent people would be suspicious about his behavior. whether he shows emotions or no emotions he still will remain suspicious. Based on what had been reported on the news people will continue to believe these allegations unless he is proven to be innocent by the courts and that the evidence that was put out by the media was also false other than People will believe as more stories come out and the pieces that are being put together will determine if those allegations are true.

    1. What is your story? What kind of a narrative are you working on? As you look to the past and imagine the future, what threads of continuity, change, and meaning do you discern? For many people, the most dramatic and fulfilling efforts to change the self happen

This passage is very interesting because as humans we always think about what happen next. Some of us don't focus on the present but focus on the past that cannot be change and also focus on the future that not even there but want to pictures in our mind about what our future would be like . when it can be drastically different from what we expected. I believe what the author is trying to say is your story is what you make of which means you can use your story as a positive aspects , that can help others related to your experience or you can warn others to not repeat the same cycle that you have experiences. or you can use you story as a negative aspects that won't be helpful but instead feel regrets or blame yourself for something you probably may or may not have any control of. But made a decision not to take control of you own story that can turn into a. positive to be a inspirational to others. I also believe that the choices we make reflects who we are as a person and along with the story is the experience that we have whether good or bad is how we react to everything that happening around us and the lesson within ourselves that the story have taught us
