    1. By the spring of 1917, President Wilson believed a German victory would drastically and dangerously alter the balance of power in Europe. But he had promised to keep the U. S. out of the war.

I wonder why he thought this. I’m not very familiar with Germanys history, other than the holocaust but that was before this time. It’s interesting that he kept the U.S out of conflict no matter what.

    2. The trouble had begun in late February with a strike by women factory workers in St. Petersburg. 90,000 women took to the streets shouting “Bread!”, “Down with the autocracy!”

I always find strikes very interesting. It’s fascinating how a group of people coming together can make such a massive change. It really goes to show that we are stronger in numbers.

    3. On the other side of the Atlantic, the United States had a long tradition of resisting being drawn into internal European politics

This kind of aligns with my other annotation that I was surprised that the US was resisting getting conflicted with other countries since that all they do nowadays.

    4. American attitudes toward international affairs followed the advice given by President George Washington in his 1796 Farewell Address. Washington had urged his countrymen to avoid “foreign alliances, attachments, and intrigues”,

It’s interesting that the George Washington warned to stay out of foreign affairs considering in today’s year we are more involved with other countries than any other country in the world.
