More than 80 cities are using the strategy, which often goes by the name Ceasefire. Many more would use it if they had help and funding. It’s a lot cheaper than hiring more police, but it does require some money, especially to set up. After that, many cities run it with no additional resources.

Yet a child is statistically safer in school than anywhere else. A school can expect a shooting once every few thousand years. If police officers are moved to schools from other places, safety overall will decrease. (It can also lead to stoking the school-to-prison pipeline through more arrests of children — usually African-American boys — for ordinary acting out.)

Instead, focused deterrence targets the very worst behavior of the most violent. It doesn’t seek to dismantle gangs — just to keep them from shooting. No mass arrests are necessary to send a message that the community condemns violence. Mothers, pastors and youth leaders tell criminals so, directly.

People will still find a way to get them illegally, it doesn’t matter.

Do I think our guns should be taken? Absolutely not.

I personally believe that enough is enough, the government need to make the gun laws more strict.

Gun control is a huge issue for us right now, because there are mass shootings that is occurring too often, mainly at schools of young kids to young adults

Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist.

A huge turning point in my life was at the age of 18 when I had to watch all of my friends graduate and move on to college while I was getting left behind and stuck in high school. I was a super senior with 14 credits

At that point I knew I had to change for the better because I didn’t want to be stuck anymore. Also wanted to take the next step of my life.

I like doing well academically.

If I wanted to be successful in life I knew I had to change myself into a more developed woman, which I knew I could be.

I’ve lived in a few different locations in the past decade. I’ve mostly lived in the Bronx most of my life but for about 4 years I lived in Long island.

I enjoy earning money after school and on the weekends

But as I came to P.U.L.S.E I realized that school is actually easy.

I used to go to a school named Celia Cruz Bronx High school of Music and realized that the environment was a little too advanced for my standards.
