    1.  Antony, M.M. (2004).  10 simple solutions to shyness:  How to overcome shyness, social anxiety, and fear of public speaking.  Oakland, CA: New Harbinger Publications.

I scanned this resource and find it practical. I can see using it with a small group of student in a resource room setting. I can also see using it in a 1:1 setting or facilitating a parent group with it so that they can help their children.

    1. Coping Cards

I have used the 'old school' way of coping cards and found great success with a fourteen year old struggling with anxiety. It was as simple as a set of business card size cards with helping coping statements written on them that he could pull out in challenging situations. I think that this has applications for professionals as well in conflict situations or challenging negotiations for example. If anyone else has used these or something like them I'd be interested in learning how and the response.

    1. One way to do this is by developing a My Anxiety Plan (MAP), with your child.

Working with your child enables buy in and helps then take responsibility for their self regulation.

    2. Creating a MAP

I like the collaborative problem solving approach in this MAP. There are important tools specifically targeting to the challenge.

    1. Assessment is an act of interpretation, not just measurement.

There is a subjectiveness to assessment yes but well created rubrics reduce this. Love peer review to highlight the interpretive nature of assessment.

    2. Online teaching should not be downgraded into ‘facilitation’.

I don't think I understand this - facilitation over 'sage on the stage' is preferred in inquiry based learning environments. How can online teaching be downloaded into facilitation? It wouldn't be teaching in that case. Maybe that's the point?

    3. Online teaching need not be complicit with the instrumentalisation of education.

I agree - the online environment gives time to learners to think before they 'speak'/post. A reflective, inquiry-based approach is indeed possible. It depends on intentional design. Good pedagogy/andragogy.

I really like Word Press's features. The Instructional Designers I'm working with at TWU are super at making our courses look good.

    5. There are many ways to get it right online. ‘Best practice’ neglects context.

Yes and 'best practice' according to who? Very interpretive.

    6. Can we stop talking about digital natives?

I don't like the phrase because it may be offensive to native Americans or Canada's Indigenous peoples. We can do better.

    7. Text has been troubled: many modes matter in representing academic knowledge.

Yes there are many ways of knowing - new smoke signals.
