      Okay so I had to reread this part a couple of times because the comparison in between war and weather is so abstract. However, I get it. It is not measured in the individual battles or lives lost but rather the entire season. This point supports my beliefs that war is not about lives lost (which is ridiculous because lives are being lost) but is more so a game of power.

      This may be generalizing, but there is some truth to it. Men like to be in a space where they are on top or have some type of advantage over those around them.

      Even in the narcissistic nature of humankind thinking that their own individual selves are more wise than others is what unites us all. It’s ironic, but all the while accurate.

      What Hobbes is saying here really reminds me of what my mom would teach me as a child: there will always be someone better than you in whatever respective category whether that be sports, the arts, academics, or whatever. However at the end of the day, we are all still equal because of our humanity. Hobbes is teaching that because we are all humans, the differences in between us are insignificant discrepancies.

    1. This contention holds that what we call our civilization is largely responsible for ourmisery, and that we should be much happier if we gave it up and returned to primitive conditions

      I find this concept that Freud brings up as paradoxical as I argue that what we know as civilization was constructed in order to bring humanity happiness. Wouldn't going back to primitive ways be a step in the wrong direction?

      I respect Young's take on justice because she recognizes that justice is complex and is something that must continuously be implemented in a systematic way rather than a "quick fix" solution.
