    1. The belly is the reason why man does not so readily take himself for a God.

I honestly do not know the true meaning behind this phrase but if I had to take a shot I would think it had to do with humans thinking they are at the level of God but are brought to reality. The belly represents as a reminder that we are human and we need to feed ourselves to stay alive. We cannot be Gods and just live life without taking care of ourselves.

    2. Insanity in individuals is something rare—but in groups, parties, nations, and epochs it is the rule.

I agree with this quote from Nietzsche because it is so true that it is rare an individual is insane because usually their ideas are kept in their head. Once you spread that idea and is accepted, that idea of insane might not be so crazy. An example would be Hitler and his ideas of exterminating the Jewish people. He got a whole nation to follow his lead and that "insane" idea was flipped to be ok.

    3. One should not go into churches if one wishes to breathe PURE air.

Either Nietzche had a bad time with the church or he is genuinely see's a problem with it. Personally, the church to me has had a lot of problems in the past and there has been many corrupt leaders in charge. Another thing I find fascinating is that the church has so much much to spend on building super expensive churches instead of using more of those resources on helping those in need.

    1. knowledge becomes a stake in worldwide competition for power

This is true b/c the wealthiest and most powerful people in this world are the ones with the most knowledge. For example, look at Bill Gates or Carlos Slim. Lyotard's statement accurately depicts our world that we live in because with knowledge comes more opportunity for one to strive in a very competitive environment. Those with a lack of knowledge have more more difficulty finding success than those with knowledge. Personally going to college and receiving an education will give me an advantage in the years to come (hopefully).

    2. The science game is diachronic

Science throughout time has developed and changed through time. New studies and claims will always be made by people and previous knowledge of past projects will be used for future projects. Since the dawn of the human race, we have found many breakthroughs throughout the way that have either have made us better (medicine, transportation, phones) or worse (bombs, guns, etc..). People pass their knowledge generation to generation hoping we as people can better ourselves. The thirst for knowledge will propel people to try to find new ideas and innovations for the future.

    3. skills to fulfill society’s needs

We all eventually do have a role in society. There has to be different roles for society to function or there would be chaos. Some people are born to be leaders and others are born to be followers and that's how life works. Too many leaders and their will be chaos and too many followers will bring the same the fate. There has to be a balance in regards to what society as a whole needs. People go through life and acquire skills to be successful in their desired career or passion they want to attain. This thought by Lyotard really makes you expand your ideas on how society functions.
