    1. Luckily, there is a framework that rejects these one-size-fits-all solutions and empowers educators to proactively design learning experiences so all students can increase their brainpower and accelerate and own their learning. The framework is Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

I think that UDL is a really important element to learning. Why not offer students different ways of learning? If the end result is the same, it makes sense to give students the freedom to learn in the way in which they feel most passionate about. Not only does it offer students the decision for their personal preference, but it also give students with disabilities more options and opportunities. Students can learn at their own pace, and they can learn how they prefer.

    1. Instead, providing students with an eBook that allows students to listen to the text, instantly define words they are not familiar with, and interact with the information makes learning more accessible for everyone.

This is a great point that I had never really thought of before. Many people consider the argument of whether or not technology should be included into the classroom as a personal preference (old school vs new school), but technology also offers so much more accessibility for an abundance of reasons.

    1. There were few Black students at any of the schools, and I believe that more research is needed to assess how teachers interact with Black children.

I wholeheartedly agree. Black students are not recognized enough in schools, and that needs to change. We as a society plan our teaching around white students, yet there is a large portion of students who are not white. Black students in particular need to be accounted for. This may include teaching more diversity in our history classes so that black students can feel more represented.

    1. They require constant reevaluation of the design choices we make in order to recognize how each choice can open up new forms of exclusion and barriers for learners.

This is something that I think is very important to recognize. In regards to inclusion, it is essential that we are constantly aware of how or who we may be excluding others, even if we do not realize it. Nobody can be perfect 100% of the time, but as long as we are making an effort to respect others, that's all that we can ask for.

    1. However, far too often, technology is used as a “$1,000 pencil” where it acts as a substitute to traditional teaching tools like pencils, paper, chalkboards, and whiteboards (November, 2013).

I highlighted this sentence because I think that it is so true. I have had so many teachers that use technology as an excuse to not fully teach students. While there are SO many benefits/helpful tools that come from technology, I think that we should treat it as an added asset, but not the only thing that can teach us.

    1. Behaviorism refers to learning that occurs “when a proper response is demonstrated following the presentation of a specific environmental stimulus” (Ertmer & Newby, 2018, para. 18). For example, when you touch a hot stove (environmental stimulus) you may quickly learn not to touch the stove again (response).

What would be a valuable way to teach children to be cautious of privacy policies on apps through behaviorism without giving a child's information out?

    1. All classrooms are diverse in the teaching and learning that occurs within them, and each one is personalized in some way.

I find this very interesting because I think that a lot of educators burn out quickly when they do not grow with their students. It is important for teachers to not use the same lesson plan for years on end, as they will easily lose interest and forget their passion. If teachers remain adaptable, they can work with their students to find lessons that interest both the students and the teacher, which is equally important.

    1. The right to privacy means “a person has the right to determine what sort of information about them is collected and how that information is used”

I find this very interesting because there are a lot of websites that track what their users look at/ seem to enjoy and use this information when determining what adds are shown. I think that most of the time we as users agree to the loss of our privacy when we sign the terms and conditions, which most people do not really read.

    2. As educators, we must strive to create fully accessible learning environments for our students. This requires designing inclusive learning environments and evaluating the accessibility of digital tools and apps before using them in the classroom to ensure all learners have the same opportunities to access and engage with course content.

This is essential in creating a comfortable classroom setting. Students need to feel seen; their person needs and preferences have to be accounted for, or else students will not be motivated to learn.

    1. Captions or transcripts allow learners to access content that is delivered via audio.

Offering captions/transcripts to videos should be considered essential. There are many students that require captions in order to understand the material, so as educators it is important that the needs of students are being prioritized.
