98 manufacturers test nursing-care robotic devices over the past five years, 15 of which have been developed into commercial products.
This feels like a lot compared to how little I had heard about this previously.

Innovation 25, which imagined what Japan would look like in the year 2025, with all of these high tech devices, including robots
It feels like this did not happen, at least not the the extent they expected. 18 years also seems a bit unrealistic for this change, especially considering that the first iphone came out the same year this was created.

So he follows a circle around the selenium pool, staying on the locus of all points of potential equilibrium. And unless we do something about it, he'll stay on that circle forever, giving us the good old runaround.
This sounds like a general issue found in programming, which is that two pieces of code conflict resulting in an infinite loop or a dead lock.

"We will take you up to the surface then, and indicate a direction. You will go about seventeen miles, and somewhere in that general region you will meet another robot, smaller than yourself. You understand so far?"
They really have to give these robots one step at a time and ensure that they understand. It feels like a similar way you ask something of a small child, where you say one part at a time and make sure they understand each part.

We've got six robots down in the sublevels, that we may be able to use, if they work. If they work."
Despite robots being very advanced, they are still referred to as objects to be used, which I feel like is uncommon in many SF works.

Helena. Don’t believe him. I asked him to give the Robots souls.
It's weird to think about giving robots souls since they are abstract. Would it possible to give robots things that humans consider come from the soul like emotions and empathy in the future?
-
Why, bless you, Miss Glory, it means that the cost of labor has fallen. A Robot, food and all, costs three-quarters of a cent per hour. (Leans forward) That’s mighty important, you know. All factories will go pop like chestnuts if they don’t at once buy Robots to lower the cost of production.
This has definitely been seen in current times since this is exactly the reason many jobs have been replaced by robots. The robots currently being used are not as advanced as the ones in the story, but they are still replacing jobs for the same reason.

They make me feel so strange
It feels as if Helena is struggling to see the difference between the robots and the humans, which is why she feels strangely about it. She continuously refers to them with human traits such as their death, instead of saying they are used up.
