    1. Behaviorism would be a useful approach to helping students memorize and recall terms and facts about the U.S. Bill of Rights. However, a behaviorist approach would not be suitable for asking students to connect their knowledge of the U.S. Bill of Rights to real-life issues.

A lot of my schooling I feel has been based on behaviorism. I feel as though a lot of teachers nowadays have done this approach because it seems to be the easiest teaching method. Teachers already have to deal with a lot so it makes sense that they would want to use the easiest method as to lessen their responsibilities and be able to focus on other aspects of her job.

    1. The danger busy teachers face is in becoming so engrossed in dealing with the day to day business of teaching that we make poor choices when it comes to time spent on our personal learning

i think that this is really important because as a teacher it's really easy to get caught up and worry about things like what the lesson plan is for the next class and if they have enough material. I think developing a PLN is great to enhance our network and also offer a space where we can really focus on ourselves

    1. Authentic activities contextualize learning and allow for a diverse application of skills and knowledge within real-world scenarios

I think that a really important aspect about learning is that we are able to apply it to other scenarios. I think that a lot of the time when we are learning in the classroom, it feels as thought there is no point or it seems as if it is busy work. Providing a real-world application makes it so that the student can engage and understand the implications of the assignment.

    1. argued that when groups achieve flow, innovation is at its peak

I think that this is really important for all workplaces. Figuring out common goals makes it so that people are able to work towards it together and foster more of a community feeling. When you listen to each other then it makes others feel as though you are truly a group.

    1. The inclusion of AI technology in the classroom can alleviate some aspects of a teacher’s workload and can also benefit student learning and achievement. Some AI that is available as assistive technology can be chosen and “tailored to fit individual student rates and styles of learning . . . but not replace the work of human teachers”

It is very good to hear that AI is not able to replace the hard work of teachers. I think that is a worry for a lot of people in different fields.

    1. Consider any myths or misconceptions your audience might have about your topic and make sure to debunk those first!

this is a good way to open up a presentation because it shocks the listener and makes them more interested that their preconceptions were debunked

    1. 7. KNOW WHEN TO LEAD AND WHEN NOT TO

sometimes it's hard because it seems like no one wants to lead the group. sometimes awkward silence is okay and it makes it so that other people end up taking initiative which makes the experience better for everyone

    1. “Experience has long been considered the best teacher of knowledge. Since we cannot experience everything, other people’s experiences, and hence other people, become the surrogate for knowledge. ‘I store my knowledge in my friends’ is an axiom for collecting knowledge through collecting people (undated).”

this is definitely true because i can read a bunch of chapters about teaching and learn a bunch of different styles which is helpful but at the end of the day, in person experience is something that you are not able to experience through a textbook

    1. In such a world, failure to become a lifelong learner means failure to adapt and to be marketable throughout one's life.

if you don’t be a lifelong learner you will eventually be replaced by someone that will be a lifelong learner and use future tech that can be better than your style of teaching

    2. Once you stop learning, you start dying. (Albert Einstein)

learning makes our brain grow and develop and if we stop then we are accepting that the level of work we are doing is going to be sufficient for the next 40 years that we are going to do it which just is not realistic

    3. With social media, such as blogs, social networking sites, discussion forum, image sharing services, and video sharing services, teachers are able to connect with other people and a variety of resources on an ongoing basis to improve their practice.

i’ve seen a lot of teacher’s that do podcasts together and talk about popular things that they have all experienced and bond over it and see how they can improve their teaching. i think this is a great way for teachers who aren’t able to communicate with teachers around them to be able to reach a brand new audience and make connections that they wouldn’t be able to do otherwise

    4. Lifelong learning implies that learning does not end when you leave a classroom or finish a degree

there are always new things to learn! people that don’t life long learn won’t improve as teachers and take away from the learning process of future students

    1. At the heart of Merrill’s alternative was the freedom and ability for learners to make decisions about their own learning so that their needs would be best met. This theoretical debate was one of many at the time. Mangan et al. (1978) urged practitioners to adapt their teaching to be more culturally aware of their learners, and Ausburn et al. (1978) presented evidence of the existence of at least 11 different learning styles. They claimed that while these learning styles did not determine aptitude, the styles should point the way to personalizing and adapting instruction to the needs of specific learners

This is really interesting that this happened so recently. I feel like teachers should have been aware of this since teaching and school has been a thing for a long time. It makes me upset because that means that for hundreds or thousands of years teachers were just teaching in one way as if it is a one size fits all. All students are different and teachers who are more aware of that and try to include all students are going to have students that enjoy their class more.

    2. The essence of this comment is that not all information can be absorbed. This is due in part to humans’ limited capacity to process information and, in this case, information presented through visual communication media when combined with an auditory stimulus. In a similar vein, Allen et al.’s (1975) work highlighted the reality that more cognitively capable students were able to process more information through visual communication media and suggested that the media used in education be adapted to the cognitive capacities of individual students. Holliday et al. (1976) worked on finding more practical applications for practitioners seeking to use visual communication media effectively.

This reminds me of teachers using youtube videos to help students get more of a summary in the subject their learning about. I found that when teacher’s preface the subject by showing a youtube video that gives a preview of what we are about to learn makes it more easy to understand what the topic is about. Youtube videos are able to give information in multiple ways, audibly, visually, and in text as well. I think it is a very good way to teach a short subject or just to give a preview or summary for kids.
