    1. Despite being in such a confined and uncomfortable space, I felt like I wasn’t even there.

This is a big reason that I download shows or books before traveling. I don't like sitting in the sardine can that we call airplanes so being able to escape into a story is the best!!

    2. Conflict is a vital ingredient in a strong story.

I feel like this is the reason we read books, stories and watch movies. We want to watch/experience the conflict but not to us in the real world. And the better the storyteller is the deeper you fall into the world.

    1. To be transported, the audience must lose a sense of awareness of their physical surroundings and be transported into the world in the story.

This is my favorite thing about reading, to lose awareness of the real world and transport into the story. It's amazing how much time passes in such a short amount of time. I zone out and have to remind myself to listen for my kids!

    2. Character Identification

I actually read stories and identify with characters that are not like me in real life. I find this part of the charm of reading especially fiction, to be someone I am not and to dive into their character.

    1. Yes I have had plenty of experiences with commercials that make me cry. But I'm also a cryer, when I'm mad, sad or happy I will cry. They usually get me with the military or the heartwarming ones with kids.

    1. It was a very interesting TED. Like he said, he didn't actually give us any data, but the way he set it up told the whole story. It is a formula for presenting a story, it reminds me of how I teach my middle schooler how to draft her paper for school. First you have the intro, tell them what you're going to tell them. Next is the body, you tell them. Then the closing, tell them what you told them. A basic formula to keep your ideas organized and the proper flow.
