    1. Overall this was a great story and seemed like a story to be of a lesson to others that though you may be tempted it is always best to resist that temptation for in the long run it might come to bite you in the butt. I was honestly super surprised that the host was the man in the green. I still don't understand why he went out of his way to challenge someone and have his head cut and then a year later bring them into their palace with their woman and then end up not killing them. I was also very surprised that he did not give into the woman which is probably part of their plan to see if he would fall for it. Over all great but strange story.

    2. Samson too – Delilah dealt him his doom

It's kind of funny because this is exactly what I was thinking of with all those times that Delilah tried to get to Samson's secret he kept rejecting it and on the the third try he finally told her. Well on the third day is when he messed up as well.

This story was honestly kind of confusing to me. It seemed as if he was cheating. Either way my favorite part of this story was the words that he had used to describe the women that he was admiring. It seemed quite romantic which is what I love about any story so it was a good read.

    2. “Launfal,” she said, “fair friend, it is for you that I have come from my own far land. I bring you my love. If you are prudent and discreet, as you are goodly to the view, there is no emperor nor count, nor king, whose day shall be so filled with riches and with mirth as yours.”

I'm actually really surprised that she is the one to step out and go for it and not him. It is so common to see the guy make the first move or most the efforts in starting a relationship. It's very cool to see even at this time that the girl was the one and stepped out to get what she wanted.

    3. The knight came before the bed, and stood gazing on so sweet a sight. The Maiden beckoned him to draw near, and when he had seated himself at the foot of her couch, spoke her mind.

Seems a little over the top for just meeting them. But at this time and situation it could've been a flirtatious gesture maybe? I'm not sure but to me it would be creepy.

    4. He gave no heed to his horse

Seems to not be thinking straight. I feel like this lustful act of men is seen throughout a lot of romantic stories.

    5. shapen to their persons

They must have been wearing some tightly revealing clothing which seems as its noted what took his attention.

    6. He was of the King’s household, but since Arthur gave him naught, and he was of too proud a mind to pray for his due, he had spent all that he had.

Seems like some kind of envy going on between the two.

    7. f Pentecost

This is actually today. A holiday that is still celebrated by Christians in the belief of the Holy Spirit.

    8. first female French poet, Marie de France

Excited to see a writing by one of the first female writers. I'm sure at this time it was a big deal.

So far this had to be my favorite reading. Of course because it was romantic but I kept saying 'Awe' to like every other sentence. Definitely a super sweet love story that was a pleasure to read. I found this reading to be an easier read even though there were some words that were hard to define. Overall I loved it.

    2. For I have lost the fairest queen And sweetest lady ever born.

This is sad, but super heart heavy to see how in love he was with her and how high he thought of her.

    3. And oft he swooned upon her bed

Here you can see how much he misses her and probably most likely could still smell her scent.

    4. “Whither thou goest I will go, And where I go thou too shalt fare !

Sounds like Ruth from the Bible

    5. ” Since we were first together, naught Hath marred our life; no smallest sign; But we have loved as love we ought; Thou art my life, and I am thine. Now do thy best and do not pine, For we must part, and I to doom ! ” ” Alas ! ” he cried, and ” woe is mine ! Where dost thou go, Love, and to whom?

Here he seems to be trying to find out where he went wrong in the relationship and how could she be trying to leave with all the love that they had.

    6. “Ah, dearest wife, what afleth thee?

This shows that the king truly cared for the queen and didn't marry her just because he needed a wife to rule with.

    7. Lady Heurodis

They seem like the perfect power couple of this time.

    8. King Pluto his lineage ran

Sir Orfeo is an ancestor of King Pluto and Queen Juno

    9. And I will sing of Orfeo.

It's kind of funny to read how extremely long how the introduction to the performance is. It seemed to be a little extensive but a great way to catch the readers attention. Especially if they are into romance type stories.

    10. lays

      A short romance story

    1. Though it was quite hard to read and had to reread a lot of things it was a good story. We got a full villain and hero story in both Part 1 and 2. I was actually most surprised to see all the bible references and the connection that they had made with God throughout the story. This is a story that really shows the good and evil that lurks in the world. It shows people how evil will never win and that God favors those that do good and that are heroic. There was defiantly a lot of respect given to those that were Godly based throughout. It also showed how the evil spirts lurk around mostly at night time which is something that is still very much believed in modern times. Another thing was the vengeance of the mother which in a way seemed expected but odd at the same time. Shows how the vicious cycle of evil will always be there since they are pretty much “descendants’ of Cain.

    2. Wisest of kings, now that I have come To the point of action, I ask you to recall What we said earlier

Sounds like the start of a goodbye speech

    3. after Cain had killed His father’s son, felled his own Brother with the sword.

Comparison to the bible story of cain and abel

    4. an avenger lurked and was still alive

Will there ever be no presence of evil?

    5. As he would have killed more, had not mindful God

Shows how huge of a role God played a role in their lives

    6. So now, Beowulf, adopt you in my heart as a dear son.

Gives him a blessing that at this time was probably very considerate

    7. he grabbed thirty men

Must have been powerful enough if he was capable of grabbing 30 men. Probably also put the fear in everyone considering that he was able to take the men.

    8. That doom abided, But in time it would come: the killer instinct Unleashed among in-laws, the blood-lust rampant. Then a powerful demon, a prowler through the dark, Nursed a hard grievance.

A Villain is introduced to the story.

    9. Heorogar, Hrothgar, the good Halga

      Starts a family

    10. Then it fell to Beow to keep the forts.

This is where Beow takes full responsibility to fill in.

    11. Were piled upon him, and precious gear.

      Honored even through death

    12. crossed over

      He died

    13. And a young prince must be prudent like that, 20 Giving freely while his father lives So that afterwards in age when fighting starts Steadfast companions will stand beside him And hold the line. Behavior that’s admired Is the path to power among people everywhere.

Sounds like he was raised really well and liked by the people around him. Giving seems to be very appreciated at this time.

    14. The people were suffering without having a king and were seen by Gods eyes for such.
