    1. Today we see our young people dancing together thesilly jazz — dances that add nothing to the beauty andfineness of our lives and certainly nothing to our history, while the dances that record the life annals of a people die.

Luther Said "Silly Jazz" as a insult thinking it would insult everybody "white". But in fact it was a insult to the black community to a greater extent.

    2. True, the white man brought great change. But thevaried fruits of his civilization, though highly colored andinviting, are sickening and deadening

I interpreted this as Luther Standing bear talking about the truths about "White Men". But he also mentions how disgusted he is at them because they have privilege and they get away with most of the violence when they are the ones responsible for the civilization they created.

They paid frightful cost of war and bore its sad and sickening sorrowstogether. Tomorrow they will share its rewards together in democracies which make no discriminationon account of sex

This shows that the author was making a argument about men fighting wars back in the day while women would stay and support from afar. They would have women stay rather than fight because they were sexist and misogynist.

    4. “Ours is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

I believe this shows exigence It's a fair to say this saying states that everyone has a voice, everyone has rights, etc. But they treated women and African Americans like they didn't have feelings. So therefore it's not true. If this statement were true everyone needs to be treated equal.

    5. he world cannot be half democratic and halfautocratic. It must be all democratic or all Prussian. There can be no compromise

I believe dividing up a society isn't a good idea though I do believe in people having own opinions/beliefs. But there's no respectable middle where people accept other peoples beliefs/opinion. People disagreeing upon one another creates anarchy.
