This is an idea that the media has done, I suppose a great job, of amplifying. We have all seen the commercials with sick and starving children that make us turn the channel or look away. There is this idea that Africa is only third world countries who can not provide for their people.

Just because it is not something our culture practices, that does not make it wrong. Americans so often view the American way of live as some sort of precedent the rest of the world is subject to follow. When in reality, some of our practices make no sense to begin with.

The fact that many people thing Africa is a country and not a continent astounds me. It just goes back to the idea that the media has created this image of a "country" that is in constant need of a saving grace.

I love the style in which this is written. While it appears to be a "how-to" guide, the author is doing nothing more than addressing the stereotypes that surround Africa. Turning this piece into a " how NOT to " guide.
