      I think she meant this more as a metaphor perhaps? Instead it was taken literally.

    1. Symmetry is repeated again and again, layered on top of itself, and made to suggest pattern and meaning in the issue.

      Without deeper discussion of this topic in class I would have missed out on this almost completely.

    2. The self apprehends itself with apperception

      This is a very interesting concept. If we can only apprehend ourselves with what we already know, is it possible we aren't seeing what is actually in front of us due to a lack of present knowledge?

      This concept is very difficult for me to do. I have been conditioned to read it in order so that you will not spoil any surprises.

      This is a very sad element of the novel to me. Jon's character, while desiring to be normal, knows he never can. Through the novel he seems to have made peace with what has happened to him but he will never be at peace fully.

      It's interesting to me how Watchmen showcases these superheroes and the power they have, but yet we get a look inside the human part of them. Dr. Manhattan for example may be the most powerful in terms of what he is capable of, but it seems like he is almost the most sensitive. He holds so much power but yet we see the ramifications that come of it and how they affect him.
