allosteric site,
An allosteric site is a specific spot on an enzyme or receptor, separate from its main active site, where regulatory molecules (effectors) bind, causing a conformational change that either activates or inhibits the protein's function, thereby controlling biochemical pathways. This "other site" binding allows for fine-tuning of protein activity without directly competing with the substrate.

These can be large or small, weakly acidic or basic, hydrophilic or hydrophobic, positively or negatively charged, or neutral. The unique combination of amino acid residues, their positions, sequences, structures, and properties, creates a very specific chemical environment within the active site.
The active site is comprised of very specific amino acids, that that creates a specific chemical environment in the active site eg. acidic/basic, hydrophilic/hydrophobic, charged (+/-)/neutral.
