      From my point of view, this is learning as we learn by doing. As stated working with the "differentials did more for my mathematical development than anything I was taught..." This reminds me of myself as I learn best by doing rather than listening or hearing.

      This text relates to factors that influence learning. When adults around us have a positive attitude towards Math, for instance, children most likely will have an apathy towards Math. At some parent conferences, it is often emphasized by parents in the presence of their children that Math does not run in the family as there is a fear of the subject in the family which leads to fulfilling prophecy.

      With the use of digital paraphernalia in the classroom, students become more efficient and there are programs used on the computers which allow me to be more productive, and able to use stations in my class while actively monitoring students on my computer, where I'm able to see their history and their screens or disable their internet if they are not being compliant in using the computer for what it is to be used for. I used Flipgrid in the past for students to express themselves mathematically which is a great tool that I wish we had growing up.

      This elicits the notion that we are in control of our own learning and reminds me of the nature versus nurture debate. We learn best by watching others in action around us and our parents are our first teachers.

      Making connections is important when learning so that it makes sense and stays alive in memory so instead of us placing the learning in short-term memory it becomes embedded in our long-term memory. Can't remember the term if it is REM we call it. This is where real learning is happens when we see connections with real-world happenings.
