    1. Now is the time for aiming at positive health and social justice. . .

I think this is important because everyone deserves the opportunity to receive healthcare and live a healthy life, regardless of their financial situation or background. In nursing, we see how things like income, access to insurance, and living conditions can affect a patient's health. I believe nurses have an important role in advocating for patients who face these barriers and helping connect them with resources. Healthcare should not just be about treating people when they get sick, but also helping them stay healthy.

    2. Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and notmerely the absence of disease or infirmity’

This stood out to me because someone can be free of a physical illness and still struggle with their mental health or personal life. As a nursing student, I think it is important to look at the whole patient instead of only focusing on their diagnosis or symptoms. For example, a patient might be physically recovering but still dealing with anxiety, stress, or problems at home. We need to consider all these factors when providing patient-centered care.

    1. Stig-matized illness can make an illness much moredifficult to treat and manage.

I think this is important because patients may avoid getting medical care if they are afraid of being judged because of their condition. As future nurses, we need to make sure our patients feel comfortable and respected no matter what health issues they are dealing with. Building trust and treating everyone without judgment can help patients feel safer asking for help and following their treatment plan.

    1. That Martin wasAfrican-American and a bus driver—and therefore, deemed an essential worker—made him both morevulnerable to infection and more likely to die from COVID-19 once infected.

This example shows that health outcomes are not always determined by a person's choices or medical history. Martin's job put him at risk because he had to interact with the public, and social factors such as access to healthcare and living conditions could make the situation worse. I wonder how many deaths could have been prevented if essential workers had better access to protective equipment, paid sick leave, and healthcare.

    2. C. Wright Mills (1916–1962) coined the term “sociological imagination” to refer to the ability to see how indi-viduals’ personal troubles are influenced by large-scale, social (public) issues.

I think this is important because people sometimes judge others without knowing what they are going through. For example, a patient who misses appointments might not be irresponsible but could have problems with transportation, work, or childcare. As a future nurse, I think we need to understand the patient's situation before making assumptions about their health decisions.
