The idea of centering the margins reminds me of the Combahee River Collective Statement. In the statement, the authors assert, "If Black women were free, it would mean that everyone else would have to be free since our freedom would necessitate the destruction of all the systems of oppression."

I am wondering if this mean "minority" groups in the particular classrooms or "minority" groups in the overall society?

I think that we should encourage students to identify things that they want to learn about. Too often in schools we make students learn certain concepts but we never inquire about what interests them. And if we do ask about what they are interested in, we still don't allow them to explore those ideas on their own.
