37.7%
37.7% of women in 2024 were involved in 1,300, making this the highest percentage in history.
TO
I could possibly base my research off this timeline too, because this is where pop began to expand again after the recession.
There were only 3 womensongwriters who worked as often as 6 of the 15-most working men.
"Work ethic"
Women were outnumbered by men in every genre, and even in Pop the ratio of men towomen songwriters was 3.8 to 1.
Even in Pop where women are seen to dominate, they are still outnumbered by men.
In 2024, 26 songwriting credits on the Billboard Hot 100 Year End Chart went to underrepresentedwomen writers. This is a significant downturn from 2023 (55) but an overall increase from 2012 (14).
Were the 26 songwriters that do not perform? Will have to look more into that.
Across all 13 years evaluated, 85.9% of songwriters were men, 13.8% were women,
General statement of the years 2012-2025
women songwriters in 2024 compared to 2023(19.5%). However, this also means that the gains made by women songwriters between 2022 and 2023were not lost. 2024 is also 7.9 percentage points higher than 2012 (11%)
Significant difference between 2012 and 2024 for women in songwriting
80.9% were men, 18.9% were women, and 0.2% were gendernon-binary. This is a ratio of 4.3 men to every 1 woman songwriter credited on the charts.
Percentage for songwriters, one of my main points
In 2024, 38.9% of single performers were women. This percentage was slightly lower than 2023 and nodifferent from 2012. There were no women on the Hot 100 Year-End 2024 chart participating in duos orbands
This entire section is important, but it is key to note that no women were on the chart in 2024 that were in duos or bands
PRODUCERS
Probably will not be focusing on producers as much as songwriters and performers, if this is time and space I will reconsider.
INCLUSION IN THE RECORDING STUDIO?
This page conveys visuals from the main data that the study collected. Possibly could use one of these for a visual aid or graph in my paper.
Cont.: All of these next pages are crucial for my paper. Very good source and it is relevant
