    1. Your conclusion should create a sense of movement to a more complex understanding of the subject of your paper

I think this is really important to remember when writing your paper. This is because it demonstrates how your conclusion should flow and tie everything together.

    2. What supporting evidence (reasons, examples, facts, statistics, and/or quota

Evidence is often data. I find evidence is easiest when it is quotes, statistics, or direct summaries.

    1. Classic Model for an Argument No one structure fits all written arguments.

This is interesting, basically it means that argumentative essays can follow many or no formats.

    1. The subject of cultural property and its appropriation should interest many, whether in the field, behind a lectern, or in a museum storeroom. Miles writes with a clear tone and degree of explanation that renders the book accessible to students and nonspecialist audiences. Simultaneously, her discussion of the post-Antique cultural property debate will enlighten many experts within the field unfamiliar with later periods or legal history.

I think that this is a great closer that helps sum up the importance of this topic

    2. In the third chapter, Miles addresses how Cicero’s speeches illustrate his ideas about art’s intrinsic and extrinsic worth, including its monetary value, but extending beyond the material value of gold, silver, bronze, or marble to include other kinds of value imbued by provenance, artist’s reputation, or aesthetics

I forgot that poetry is art and that unmovable objects are liable to the same legal issues

    1. Incentives for theft, vandalism and damage are each day increased by the soaring prices paid for 'collector's items', the

Art, because of its uniqueness, can reach some insane prices. One example is the Isabella Gardner Stewart gallery theft (the reward is 10 million) and the art is worth 500mil.

    2. his is one of the most important headings. It is subdivided into the following sections: (a) inventory, registration, scheduling, declaration; (b) rights and obligations of the owner or person in possession or control and the competent authorities; (c) regulation of trade in antiquities; and (d) export regulations.

I can see how it could be very hard to legally battle this

    3. There are two main categories of cultural property, namely im-movable property and movable property. Items of movable property, which are more numerous, are more liable to be destroyed or misap-propriated. Art lovers mainly wish to acquire movable property. Cultural objects are often assembled to form public collections which are ex-hibited in museums. These circumstances as much as the specific nature of this kind of property have warranted the adoption of measures of special protection both at the international level and in national legislation

I myself, and my family, love antiques. However, only if they are purchased legally from the owner. Spoils of war should be returned and then if the owner sells it to another country, museum, person, it can work.

    4. o-hibit the pillage of towns and recommend that measures should be taken to spare buildings dedicated to religion, art and science, historic monu-ments and hospital

Unfortunately, ISIS doesn't follow the same belief. many priceless treasures are being destroyed.

    1. Approaches to ownership are based on a variety of philosophies and often vary depending on whether nations are at peace or at war

Countries at war are not likely to make peace when it comes to art.

    2. The Oxford English Dictionary defines “repatriate” as “to return again to ones native country.”8 Restitution is defined as the “action

Repatriate tends to be older artifacts, whereas restitution tends to be art of WWII that has legal records.

    1. est it again on site, with the interviewee and you both speaking on the recording to be sure you are both clearly audible.

I will remember to test it. I would hate for it not to record and ruin the entire interview.

    2. Remain open-minded, however; datacantake you in new directions asthe research and the interviewsprogress

This just further states that you shouldn't assume to much. I will try and keep my personal opinions out of the interview.

    3. If you were studyinga family member, thedata you consult may be in different forms—scrapbooks, photographs, family heirlooms, diaries, etc.

I never thought of doing that, I might now. I think it is a great idea

    1. Conducting a Successful Interview Process

I know this is designed for a job interview for a university, but I found some helpful tips in here that I would like to use.

    2. Establish rapport with a friendly attitude

If you go in thinking it is a task it won't be successful or meaningful. I think that this is always important to keep in mind.

    3. Remove any desk or physical barrier between you and the candidate

I think that this is a good idea because it can help relax both the interviewee and the interviewer

    1. I don’t even want to begin to think what could have been, if we didn’t get our baby back. And it’s not a cliche to say that your life can change in the matter of one second. And you choose what you want to do with that life-changing second.

They exploded a moment. Rather than talk about a long period of time they focused on one experience. This technique is also effective in writing.

    2. Did you feel like this could potentially be life ending?

This question is hard to answer as "yes" or "no." This is a good technique because it prompts the speaker to elaborate.

    1. I really thank you for coming here with me and getting outside your comfort zone and I hope that we can have more conversations like this in the future.

By showing that it means something for them to talk about their experiences, they feel more open and comfortable. This can help both father and daughter in the future.

    2. Yeah just recently somebody called me that word, and some people like say go “Go back to Africa” or something like that.

She is expressing her feelings rather than just saying yes or no. By doing this, she and her father are learning from each other. Getting people to open up is an important interview tactic.

    1. Annie Johnson, Maryan Osman, and Fatuma Abdullahi

It makes it so much easier to listen to if it is more of a conversation. The multiple people in the interview make you feel as if you are in a group.

    1. They do so not by manipulating education experimentally, but by testing hypotheses about why and how education could affect belief in conspiracy theories.

I saw a video that demostrated how children's opinions could be changed in on class period post war. The teacher used tactics like "winning is good, it makes you brave, well we are the winners, right?" or "If the flag is so special, why don't we all get a piece of it, we are proud of it, right?"

    2. Among other things, studies find that people are more likely to endorse conspiracy theories if they feel alienated, powerless and disadvantaged, and if they are distrustful of others.

People who are insecure bully online, and buy into things that make them feel better. If there is an entire community that believes this, they find comfort in each other.

    3. half of respondents endorsed at least one conspiracy theory,

This simply proves the point that people will believe anything as long as it benefits them. cough cough Trump and global warming.

    4. After the election, Jones said Trump called to thank him for his support, a claim the Trump camp, notably, neither confirmed nor denied.

This is a prime examply of a "name tosser." He throws around big names in order to gather more fame by implying connections to the rich and famous.

    5. There's like satanic art everywhere."

This makes me rather disconcerted. As an AP Art History student, I have learn this is untrue. As a student, you learn that "there's like satanic art everywhere" is most certainly incorrect usage of the term "like." Art is interpretive and may have many different meanings. While that meaning may be negative or positive, that does not necessarily mean that it refrences the devil or satanic worship

    1. At StoryCorps, Savannah, 8, and Kellie sat down for one of the first times to talk about Savannah’s birth, and how she feels after learning that her mother had been in jail at the time.

When did she tell Savannah? She works as a coordinator for youth with incarcerated and talks about her expierence, but when did her daughter know?

    1. Sybil herself was a force to be reckoned with. She was a vocal advocate for the families of POWs and soldiers missing in action at a time when the United States government followed a “keep quiet” policy,

Without his wife, he might not be here today. Her determination and voice helped bring him home. One person cannot do alone.

    2. Those questions immediately became a sound bite and a punchline for late night comedians, and for millions of Americans, they defined a man they knew little about.

It reminds me of how people might stereotype of define someone they don't know. This is visible on both the small social level and on the large political level.

    1. Put the action of the sentence in the verb. Don't bury it in a noun or blur it acrossthe entire sentence

Does this prevent passive voice, or is it completely different?

    1. This principle creates an effect called coherence, which is closely related to unity. Whereas unity refers to the clear relationship between the body of a paragraph and its topic sentence and between the parts and the whole, coherence refers to the clear relationship between one sentence and the next, between part and part.

    1. Five layers of chocolate-drizzled caramel-stuffed almond-studded ice cream bar goodness. Do I really need to say anything else?!

That most certainly draws me in. The pictures are beautiful.

    1. I can’t do cartwheels. I hate it when people wink at me. I love to write and talk! I’m also very addicted to chocolate.

She adds the humorous and down to earth things that appeal to other teenagers.
