    1. Because it seems only appropriate that given the fact that I am talking about genre awareness, I should make you aware of my own struggles with writing in a new genre.

Actually that is literally one of the best ways to teach someone, show the process yourself to them so they can understand it as they go.

    2. Al-though textbooks are directed at students, they are often more formal affairs meant to serve a different purpose than this essay.

So, is that why many textbooks are so hard to really sit down and really get into it?

    3. ore importantly, I noticed that the writer did not talk as an authoritative figure but as a coach.

Was there anything else that was emphasized other than acting as a coach?

    4. oted the warm, personal style that was prevalent through every essay; the tone was primarily conversational

Yeah, that's what is often emphasized too.

    1. A man has not everything to do, but something; and because he cannot do everything, it is not necessary that he should do something wrong.

Yeah, that's true. There are many solutions to do something, and the wrong thing usually hurts more than heals.

Yeah, it's apparent in the school, and all, but wouldn't contact zones actually work outside of the classroom, like a workplace?

    2. Queertheoryfurthercomplicatesour viewofwhatishappeningbydestabilizingthe mostfundamentalcategoriesalongwhichwemightstarttodistinguishculturaldifference.

This reminds me of Anderson's TedTalks from another class I'm in. Anderson talked about dismantling things to better persuade the audience, and in this case, it's pretty similar.

    3. ItaughtacompositioncourseatOberlinCollegeforfirst andsecondyearstudentsthat wasfocusedonlesbian,gay male,bisexual,andtransgendered(LGBT)3issuesinlanguage

Oh hey! This is just like our professor's article where she wrote about internationalization, but this article focuses on gender and sexually in the writing discourse, I think.

    4. studyofsexuality/genderandgivingthemtheoppor-tunitytodevelopanunderstandingofwritingas amodeoflearningatthecollegelevel.5

I'd definitely consider this a contact zone simply because it's focusing on giving the literal chance to have their say, especially in the world today.

    1. They are new stories of whom their participants hope to become.

There, that's the inspiration that gets peeps to move, to share their story, and get others to take action as well.

    2. The identity of a storyteller gives credibility to the story, linking her with her listeners in a common journey

This is the same thing when it comes to TED Talks.

    3. Story telling is both a way to "frame" our experience as purposive (making things "add up") and of "regulating our emotions" (retaining confidence, keeping our anxiety under control, having a story we can believe in)

Ohhh so this is basically saying that Storytelling becomes a tool that actually captures what we feel and want to basically share with other or keep to ourselves. Or something like that.

    4. Story telling is central to social movements because it constructs agency, shapes identity, and motivates action

I guess, in a way, storytelling makes a certain statement stronger because it becomes a little more relatable and personal.

In what ways can this been seen in a classroom?

    2. Modelsinvolvinggamesandmovesareoftenusedtodescribeinteractions

This in itself is pretty interesting - but what are come good examples of video games that model this?

    3. LikethemestizohalfbrotherwhotaughtGuamanPomatoreadandwrite

This situation is pretty similar to Pratt's son learning a lot through the baseball cards - Oh look a contact zone.

    4. itwillreadverydifferentlytopeopleindifferentpositionsinthecontactzone

That must be the fact that people from different backgrounds have different views, so of course things will be read differently. No one person is exactly the same.

    5. blownbureaucraticstatesocietybuiltandadministeredwithoutwriting

You know if you think about it, that's actually pretty impressive to be done without any writing involved, but more than anything, it shows how much it actually changed over time. If you think about it, writing is a system that literally connects more than one thing - so quite literally the writing system is a contact zone itself.
