    1. Infographics and the Rise of Visual Literacy; Memes; Fake News

This part may work better in the previous part as it is a current aspect of our society. Though I think an interesting thing to look at here could be how previous generations looked forward through science fiction like Star Trek, Buck Rogers, etc. and other versions of looking forward today.

    2. PROPOSALS FOR TIMELINE PROJECTS DUE TO ME BY February 23

I assume we will discuss it, but what exactly will the proposals entail? Are we each picking sections to work on or proposing some entries to add, or something different?

    1. What in the classroom paired projects would you like to try?

I think small explorations into examples of different types of media, such as looking at examples of the variety of GIFs, memes, podcasts, Tiktoks, etc. could be cool activities that have us exploring and engaging with the media we are covering. Or even just brainstorming the impact and effect different forms of communication would have on society.

    2. What assignments and scheduling can we develop to take advantage of the best of both the physical and digital spaces we will inhabit?

This again depends on the number and size of assignments we decide to do, but definitely devoting some class time to digital resources and connections with the DKC. Additionally, making things due towards the end of the week allows better last minute access to resources like the DKC because we're finishing the assignments during the weekdays rather than over the weekend.

    3. What percentage of course grade should those assignments be valued at?

It really depends on how many they are and the scope, but I don't imagine a massive component of the class, maybe like 30% or something?

    4. Once we are back in the classroom, what projects relevant to our subject could we create with the full resources of the HCC? [At a minimum, cameras, audio booth, video recording and editing suites.  What could we create for the digital signage in the building?  For the giant video wall?]

For the digital media wall, we could try to make a visual collage or mood board of sorts that represents the Information Age and or how communication of information has changed throughout history. We could utilize the recording studio to engage with various types of media like film, radio, and creating our own forms of that media to better understand how it works.

    5. So, what types of assignments/projects would you be interested in working on/doing related to the timeline?   What alternative ways might we use to construct/present what we’ve learned in and out of the class about the history of information?

I like the silent film project and the idea of the media wall as projects to present information we've learned and to delve more in depth to certain topics. I think a lot of mixed media elements like GIFs, memes, images, music, etc. are cool things to include in the timeline and make it more varied and interactive.

    6. What do you think of the layout of the course schedule? Do you want to spend more or less time on certain broad topics? Are there potential topics that aren’t listed at all that you think should be part of the history of the Information Age?

I thought the layout was pretty good and I had an interest in all of the topics that are listed so I think a more broad look at the topics is fine, assuming that most of our projects have us diving more in depth to certain elements that we find interesting. I cannot think of any other topics that we didn't already talk about in class.

    7. Which topics are you particularly interested in studying this semester?

I am really interested in the development of the computer, the internet, and film culture. Additionally, I enjoy looking at the general cultural impact that these forms of media have on society.

    8. This class is not the most important thing in your life. It’s not the most important thing in mine. Don’t get me wrong, there’s much to learn here and I love and have so much fun exploring these topics with you and your classmates. But take care of yourself. Reach out to me if there are things in your life that end up taking precedence over this class. Let’s talk about them.

I just wanted to say that I am very grateful for the inclusion of this section in the syllabus. I think its a really important idea to share especially throughout all of the uncertainty and stress that the pandemic has brought. Thank you for reminding us that we can reach out for help and flexibility if we need it.

    9. Virtual tours (using tools like PlacePress)

I am also unsure as to the significance of PlacePress in comparison to other tools like Google Maps, but from what I have seen of it, it seems like an interesting tool and program and I would be interested in exploring it further.
