    1. Codeswitching

The video we watched for T464 connects to this well and how the children would code switch to complete certain material. (journal vs business letter)

    2. standard

I feel the word standard is used too much in the wrong setting. Standards can differ depending on the person who is viewing the situation verses going through the situation, location, ethnicity and so much more. In a video we watched in T464 by Ladson Billings she stated how instead of "standard English" she refers to it as "American edited English".

    3. It is very disheartening to saythat I’ve taught the same way to allthe children all year long and myWhite children are passing the testsand my Black children are not.

I read this sentence about 3 times. The words/statement that stood out to me within this highlighted area were "same way", "all the children", "all year" and to make it worse then compares the children together. ALL children do no learn the same, and to do the same thing for an entire year and expect a change is insane.

    4. “Mrs. Swords, why do we behavin’ maf in da aftanoon?” AndRachel would reply, “Why do wewhat?” It was always the same. Shewould attempt to “correct” thechild’s “error,

This is something that I have learned to just let it go, because if you can understand the child while correct them and possibly cause a child to feel as if they cannot do anything right because everything they are saying keeps getting "corrected".
