    1. And so I advise you, senor, fail not to be present to-morrow at his burial, which will be well worth seeing, for Chrysostom had many friends, and it is not half a league from this place to where he directed he should be buried.”

St. John Chrysostom changed his life to become a hermit-monk. In return for having done that many people had idolized his preachings. Despite being a serious individual, the community that he had placed himself in was very uplifting. He was known to be able to keep peace amongst the people.

    2. He did so, and passed all the rest of the night in thinking of his lady Dulcinea, in imitation of the lovers of Marcela

Dulcinea is known to be a figment of Don Quixotes. The reasoning behind this is based off the premise that she is the "perfect" being. Dulcinea is someone who is idolized throughout this chapter and plays a roll in Quixotes mind throughout the story. The name stems from the devotion that one has for her and the "sweet" aurora of that women.

    1. And because in all other monasteries and nunneries all is compassed, limited, and regulated by hours, it was decreed that in this new structure there should be neither clock nor dial, but that according to the opportunities and incident occasions all their hours should be disposed of; for, said Gargantua, the greatest loss of time that I know is to count the hours.

Many monasteries are known to have walls and also specific times that were known to the people. He did not want the monk to be able to have a standard place to worship that are like many others. The clock and dial symbolized the idea of praying as a community. Gargantua was manipulating the monk in order to have the most logical abbey in his opinion.

    2. We’ll lose no honour by flying. Demosthenes saith that the man that runs away may fight another day.

Demosthenes was widely known amongst groups to be a renowned orator. He was even a part of the start of the democratic party. For some he was considered witty which caused many to not like him but he was still able to uphold valid arguments against his peers. As Rabelias used Demosthenes for a key figure of "fighting another day" shows that Demosthenes was usually one to play a manipulation game before any battle of his.

St. Peter was considered to be the model disciple. Which was considered off due to the fact that his start was during at time he was weak and committing sins. Because the church and Jesus was able to get St. Peter on a good track he became one of the "rocks" of the church. 1. Brave he as Phormion.

Phormion was an Athenian general. He and his troops were one of three that were sent with reinforcements during several battles. Phormion even gained a victory over the Peloponnesian fleet. From William Smith, "He[Phormion} was a man of remarkably temperate habits, and a strict disciplinarian." This circles back around to Myronides because both of these individuals were acknowledged Athenian generals. At this point in the story Myrondies was the general of the men.
