      Is it joy in the sense that they know that the suffering will ultimately end in their freedom and entering the afterlife to be at peace?

      While we were still under arrest (she said) my father out of love for me was trying to persuade me and shakemy resolution. 'Father,' said I, 'do you see this vase here, for example, or water pot or whatever?'

      I find it interesting how although it upsets her father that she is a Christian, she doesn't back down from her beliefs, even if it means disappointing her family members.
