Based on my own experiences I can positively say that AI is the ruins of this earth. I used to use AI to help me rephrase a prompt or question I didn't understand on its own. However with time I realized this only allowed my comprehension skills to worsen or more so rely on AI to further explain it to me. In the beginning I said hm maybe this is okay because it's like the teacher explaining the prompt to me in a more detailed manner, which is what I needed. But no, I became overly dependent on AI. So I stopped. It was genuinely scary.

    1. Inventors ignoring the ethical consequences of their creations is nothing new as well, and gets critiqued regularly:

Touching on this, I don't understand why this happens. The level of severeness is at an ultimate level, and the developers know this every time. I get that the excitement of trying to see of they can create this new thing is what blinds them but why is there no job position that specifically focuses on making sure they don't create something that will not be ethical in the long run or near future. It should be made so that it is preventable by a committee who isn't so blinded by the project and is focused on the ethics.

Reading John Smith, I realized how times have not changed. How they stated, "If he have nothing but his hands, he may...by industries quickly grow rich" People in corporate now are still the same-- they are able to grow rich through the industries. And everyone else stays beneath even if working twice as hard. It seemed like a genuine talk he had but it has become so toxic

    1. These business owners then hire wage laborers [s2] at predetermined rates for their work, while the owners get the excess business profits or losses.

Business owners then hiring wage laborers at predetermined rates for their work, while the owners get the excess business profits makes my blood boil. Relating this back to my experiences, working for target was my worst nightmare. It was the biggest, busiest, target in Seattle. We were being pushed to extreme workloads by higher ups like crazy. For such little pay. It was infuriating. But of course Target was making millions a day within this target.

Based on my experiences i agree with this author. I pranked my little sister when she was 9 and she really felt for it and was extremely hurt

    1. The consequences for being “canceled” can range from simply the experience of being criticized, to loss of job or criminal charges.

Relating back to what comes after being canceled, I agree it ranges from different things. I had a close friend of mine getting cancelled online which then transferred to in person. The bullying turned so bad that she was forced to quit her job, move schools, and create a new identity. She was 17 at the time. So through that I saw there were so many "consequences" that came from getting canceled.

Relating back to this article of, "Doxing" on wikipedia, I agree to what they had to say about what doxing and how it is carried. I never heard or knew anything about doxing up until last year. When one of my personal friend had been doxxed online because she attended a protest and people did not agree with her. Her family and her were both hurt and affected by this. Since I saw the affects frontline, I was incredibly frightened. I believe doxxing shouldn't be a thing. It is completely unsafe.

    1. Bullying: like posting public mean messages

Relating this back to my experiences of bullying I remember being bullied through this category. One time I posted a picture of myself on instagram and one of my classmates commented really hurtful comments shaming my body. This impacted me for years. I was beyond humiliated and sad.

    1. Mia Sato. YouTube reveals millions of incorrect copyright claims in six months. The Verge, December 2021. URL: https://www.theverge.com/2021/12/6/22820318/youtube-copyright-claims-

Reading this article about how most of the videos on Youtube flagged as copyright are in fact not flagged correctly, this remind me of exactly what I watched growing up. My YouTubers would always complain about how they would get flagged for no reason. So that cause them to become strict while filming, because like the article stated, if flagged they would not be compensated and thats their income. Moreover, Youtube flagging incorrectly or unjustly caused the viewers to watch dull boring videos because the creators were now scared of getting flagged incorrectly.

    1. Social media sites also might run into legal concerns with allowing some content to be left up on their sites, such as copyrighted material (like movie clips) or child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Relating back to my experiences, I first learned about the term copyright when I was 7 years old and on youtube. A lot of the YouTubers I watched would always try everything to not get copyrighted- at the time I didn't know what this meant. It was their original content, however sometimes there was a song playing in the background of their video. And so they would get copyrighted and would in turn, not get paid. So that's how discovered copyrights.

I relate extensively with Mayas experience with wanting to alter her appearance via filters or editing apps after having been on the app for some time. This was too my same exact experience. In the beginning I was okay with posting myself exactly how I looked and over time I began using filters and I couldn't stop. I didn't even like having pictures taken with no filters anymore. It's seriously a sad world once you enter that world. But I do remember how confident I was before the filters and all.

    1. Trauma dumping can be bad for the mental health of those who have this trauma unexpectedly thrown at them, and it also often isn’t helpful for the person doing the trauma dumping either:
      1. I agree with this statement. Tying this back to my experience, one time I was scrolling on tiktok - not expecting to see any saddening content, just my usual "get readys' with me" and other content. However I scrolled to up to see the next video and it was a trauma dumping video ---. This trauma dumping video so happened to align with something horrible that had happened to me in the past. So I was now sitting there, with my wounds reopened, against my will. It truly affected my performance for some time after.

    1. Kelsey D. Atherton [@AthertonKD]. Oh, you're experiencing a structural problem? Have you ever considered trying different personal choices instead? April 2019. URL: https://twitter.com/AthertonKD/status/1120376944061583360 (visited on 2023-12-07).

Kelsey D. Altherton's tweet from 2019 stuck with me. I love his sarcasm and point of view with structural problems. I'm tying my own experience with these types of dumb views on structural problems vs personal issues. I grew up in a low income family where my family worked in agriculture, with very very little pay. Where raises were non existent in this workforce despite living in this world of rising prices with anything imaginable. So it was very difficult for groceries, mortgage, taxes, insurance, bills, etc. So I agree with Kelsey, it's definitely not a personal issue nor can it be fixed through the individual.

    1. Time since posting (e.g., show newer posts, or remind me of posts that were made 5 years ago today)

My experience with this explanation of what algorithms can do is exactly this. I know with snapchat specifically, I have watched their recommendation algorithm grow significantly over the years. Their saved gallery section now has "x year(s) ago today" which is awesome- I like the recommendation algorithm snapchat has going. Now with instagram, they have something similar but that idea did come off snapchats algorithm,

This reading of "Private message" lets the reader (me) know what private messaging is which is in turn, a form of private communication. They go on by explaining the two different types of private messages. The first one being IRCs which are through apps like facebook or instagram. This means that these messages are not the main thing occurring on the app. Since posting is the main thing occurring. The second one is PMs which is through apps like WhatsApp and kik. This is where the messages are occurring through apps that are specifically made to direct message one another

    1. When we use social media platforms though, we at least partially give up some of our privacy.

Relating back to this, I agree but also think most of your privacy gets taken away when you enter social media platforms. From what I have seen, people who post lifestyle content usually always get doxed by a random unemployed person who has too much time on their hands and slows every part of the video down until they find what they need. So I think we lose our privacy both to the media platforms and to the people online

I think there comes an age where you realize and learn what is okay and what is not okay. I have personally said dumb ignorant things as a kid so I relate to this post, although it was never anything like what he stated. However, sometime into your teenage years you are self aware and have learned enough to know what's wrong and what's right. So after those years of life, jokes like the one the "comedian" made are not okay and harmful to others.

    1. When the goal is provoking an emotional reaction, it is often for a negative emotion, such as anger or emotional pain.

Drawing on my personal experience from a couple of years ago, I would definitely agree that the goal is to provoke negative emotions. When I was in high school, there was this fake account that frequently negatively commented under my posts, causing me emotional pain. Moreover, I know that was their intention because they always talked about my looks in a horrible way.
