    1. Material Design made most apps simply look the same, even if easier and faster to build. There was barely any excitement.

      I completely agree. Material has been the best and worst that happened to Android. It allowed for a much needed integration an unification of design styles, but as a collateral effect it ended up producing a buncof boring-looking similar apps.

    2. The new UI is all about personalisation

      Although it's an effective way of having a more fluid, always changing and not-so-boring interface, it's nothing new. Other systems like Windows have been doing similar things for years.
