Being a freelancer for me made me feel like I had been taken advantage of for my skills. I knew that for my skillset and position that it had for sure been a paid job, but since I had been in college, the freelancing seemed to be just about the only option at that time. I would rather invest and work for myself to be that much ahead in the long run for myself and my businesses than for someone else's financial benefit.

Observing sounds like someone trying hard to find an idea... opposite of "aha moments" and similar to an exercise that I had done in another one of my courses for my entrepreneurship + innovation class.Naturally coming across something that you feel passionate about that you are the one who should do it is more empowering for the startup.
Empathizing Defining Ideating
are these in order?
real need
sometimes people do not need things.. people are willing to spend money on things they think are cool or things they don't really need (or at least some people say 'you don't need this' but still will purchase it.
doesn’t need it.
For me, I disagree. If it is your business you already tweaked it to get it to be successful, if you decline, you know how to change it to increase stamina. Entrepreneurs think a lot yes, but that doesn't mean they will totally manipulate it. I've noticed big corporations that I had worked for completely change overtime because they got bought out and that way makes the companies worse. They don't make it what it used to be and most of the users that were there before are not anymore because of the major change.
entrepreneurs don’t necessarily make good business owners and managers.
I think opposite. If you know more of your business plans and goals, why should you have to have someone else be the owner? Maybe hire managers for the manufacture and in different hubs, but you will always be the founder and whoever you want to be, just do the roles.
sells it
I just do not understand why people sell their businesses. Why wouldn't they want to stay with it? Are they not strong enough? Do they lack confidence in it possibly failing? I do not know and would like to know more why so many entrepreneurs sell their businesses. When I worked for Nordstrom, we were trained that the Nordstrom family is still owning the business. However, other department stores like Dayton's was bought out by Macy's, yet everyone says Dayton's was extremely better than what Macy's is now.
entrepreneur is someone with a market-driven pursuit of a conceptual idea, who seeks a viable business model that succeeds in a target market.
If this is the definition... I feel like the Innovation and Entrepreneurship lab should be called the intrapreneur and innovation lab.
media platforms
However, there is still lack of one amazing platform that everyone will want to use.
major challenge to the media industry.
People don't really like reading long articles all of the time... if someone has the new way of storytelling maybe... if people even have the times for that.
Entrepreneurship isn’t about chasing those dollars, but rather pursuing the journey of bringing to market a solution based upon an innovative idea.
SO TRUE! You cannot effectively execute something that you are DOUBTING and have no prior knowledge to it. In my class in Tempe at the Business school, there are so many men in my Entrepreneurship class that want to be one for the MONEY and only it!!!! It is extremely disappointing to me that there are people like that out there. That means that the quality of product declines.. however, you don't even need a good product to make it. All what many people our generation want is to make at least a few million a year. Well, that is really hard to do when you think it will just be handed to you because for most people, it isn't.
attracts buyers
no one likes to buy information now... no one. That is the biggest puzzle to solve being a journalistic entrepreneur.
Today, journalists must begin to think of themselves as more than professional
This is completely why Journalism is dying because they don't think of themselves as a Journalist, but just more skilled than everyone else at taking photos, writing and editing. Think... snapchat. What if everyone told the news someday yet there were a few "famous" people on it known as the really really amazing story tellers.
underpaid and overworked passionate professionals
I would not be passionate working for a corporation that already exists... I cannot work for a corporation or even intern if I disagree with everything they are doing.
It’s important to note: journalism is not dead.
I sort of disagree... the fact that 15 other of my friends freshman year ALSO wanted to be that one sexy woman on E! news... made me realize that we all cannot have that spot. In order for all of us to be satisfied with a job, there needs to me more places like E! in order for all of us to get a job... times that buy all of the other Journalism schools in the nation... and it is merely impossible to get that one job that won't pay as much as another job with not that much competition.
he company have been raised.
Yet... it may not even be just politics that they are biased towards. They are also biased toward events, what they write about, and all of the above. And, it maybe partly corporation, but it is mostly the journalists at hand.
Buying and selling of media companies is consolidating much of the landscape.
IN MY OPINION this is truly the passion that brought me to start a new actual news corporation. I do not want to work for corporations who have old male CEO's that just sell businesses for money. News should NOT be owned by the same people who create movies and are involved in other things. Also, all current broadcast companies are all usually creating the same story, adding increased competition for them all. There needs to be a news corporation that catches those unique stories in which the current companies miss all of the time.
