I played soccer growing up, and the only other Filipino boy in my town was on my team. Whenever I had the ball, white parents screamed his name. Whenever he had the ball, they cheered for me. No one ever apologized or tried to learn the difference.
My parents did this to my cross country teammates all the time and I have been called so many different names while racing. I have also done this to my teammates on accident it has never been due to racism. Sometimes your mind just slips when you are cheering your head off like a psycho cause you want them to do their best.
