      There is always conflict even if the situation is organized. Our competitive edge will always get the best of ourselves, however it is important that we don’t go too far with being competitive.

    1. discrimination—unjustified negative behaviors toward members of outgroups based on their group membership.

      Discrimination always plays a factor whether we like it or not. Nowadays discrimination isn’t what it used to be but in some major companies and sports teams around the world there are still old belief systems in place which give an unfair advantage.

    2. White players in National Basketball Association games received fewer fouls when more of the referees present in the game were White, and Black players received fewer fouls when more of the referees present in the game where Black. The implication is—whether they know it or not—the referees were discriminating on the basis of race.

      This is an interesting take because you can definitely tell by watching some NBA games whether or not fouls are justified or not. Players will make comments or suggestions to the association but always get fined if they speak freely it seems like.

    3. prejudice—an unjustifiable negative attitude toward an outgroup or toward the members of that outgroup.

      People who are prejudice towards different ethnic groups tend to not have a real reason as to why they don’t like that specific group. It’s usually based off bad stereotypes they hear throughout their lives and what they grew up with.

    2. This 3-credit course will meet for 50 minutes per session three times a week throughout the semester. A minimum of 3-4 hours of student preparation time outside of class is expected for each credit hour. Thus, please be prepared to devote 6-9 hours per week to this course. The

      Since this is a 3 credit course it is a major requirement for most of us. Therefore, it is important we properly prepare and review the content. Time management will be key in this class to success.

    3. Review all video lectures and accompanying presentations located in the Canvas “Modules” section for each week for the term.-           Read all articles and chapters located on Canvas/ book for each week’s topics.

      Must read all articles, journals, and content in order to stay aware of what’s going on in the class.

    4. You are responsible for scheduling your study time and sticking to it regularly. This course will take approximately 135 hours to complete. This includes your reading, module activities, and module exams.Each of your modules consists of reading materials, learning activities, videos, websites. These materials are an extension of your reading materials and will be great resources for you in the future.

      We are responsible for approximately 135 hours of work to complete this course. This course is also asynchronous.
