      My sister can speak fluent sign language and actually dated a deaf man for a while. I think being bilingual in this way is very unique and beneficial for society.

      I agree that a lot of communication is non verbal. For example, tone of voice is very important because a lot of people use that for sarcasm.

    1. It is never a bad idea to give a compliment if you want to make somethingbetter.

      I think compliments are a very good way to get through editing. For example, one might say "i liked this point but lets expand on the idea" rather than just scraping it all together.

      I feel as if these comments are very unhelpful when peer editing. Just stating this statement does nothing for me without help on how i could improve my work.

      This is something i had noticed as well. My mom was a student here many years ago and had brought this to my attention when she come to visit the school with me. I thought this was a pretty cool fact!

    1. As a student, I have to be okay withtalking about my successes and failures of a given assignment after receivingfinal feedback

      This is something that i have struggled with before as well. I do not like accepting that i have done bad on a test because of all the work I put into studying for it. But This statement is something that doesn't relate to me but I want to work towards this goal.

      I also fear failure. When I work so hard on a project and put a lot of time and effort into something, its sometimes really hard to see the grade below what i was expecting. But I realize that this should push me harder to do it right next time.

      That sounds like torture. My phone is a necessity at all times, i couldn't imagine if i didn't have it next to me all the time.

      Learning about genres in the past units have been very interesting. I learned a lot about the writing world that I would not have known about if it were not for this course.

      I rely on google a little too much for everything. I am always one to say do your research before hand to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into, but some sources are not reliable. Distinguishing the bad ones from the good ones are hard.

      With COVID, we have found new ways to express ourselves. With everyone being home, we have found that zoom meetings are a very efficient way of talking/meeting with someone, while still maintaining COVID guidelines and continuing to stay safe.

      covid was a very tough time for lots of companies, schools, and families. I am very glad that covid is not nearly as large as it was last year and i hope we continue to stay safe from the virus!

      Research is always very important to do when you are struggling to understand a topic. When I interview for jobs, I always research the company first to make sure I know what I am getting into.

      I feel as if when the story is written in a way that is exciting, it is more likely to be read. I know in high school i was guilty of not reading the books because they were boring. But comic books are fun!

      I agree with Anya in that learning that instagram captions are its own form of genre is really cool! i would have never known that. When I am on instagram, i typically don't see captions as a type of writing, but they are!

    2. Touring a “Hidden World”

      The "Hidden Word" is a great analogy on story telling and writing. It goes so much deeper than the text that is there. This means no only reading the story but understanding the words that have been used.
