    1. Ms Fowler wrote: "One day, all of the women (there were, I believe, six of us left in the org) received an email saying that no leather jackets were being ordered for the women because there were not enough women in the organisation to justify placing an order.

As someone who doesn't have a car and frequently uses Uber this article stood out to me. The audience seems to be directed more towards women and individuals who rely on Uber for transportation. If I were to look into it farther I'd get both perspectives (employees and the company) and look at various sources to try to look into any possible bias.

    1. In his book, The Demographic Future, American political economist Nicholas Eberstadt cites projections that by 2030, more than a quarter of Chinese men in their 30s will not have married.

The one child law is something I had looked into before which is why I decided to click on this article. The author os this article cites various sources by individuals when looked up appeared to be quite credible. I feel as this article is directed towads educated individuals with an interest in this topic either because they're impacted by it or because they've heard of it. All 3 of the appeals were used and I believe that they were used well. If I were to look into it more I would want to know how long China will be impacted by this gap and when it will come closer to equilibrium.

    1. "The weight of the U.S. in the global arms trade is so big that it's enough to shape the trend," Fleurant said. It has delivered major weapons to at least 100 countries over the five-year period, significantly more than any other exporting country. Of all the weapons the U.S. exported in the last five years, 47% ended up in the Middle East. The main buyers were Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Turkey.

This article drew me in because of a Contemporary World Issues class I took in High School in which we did a unit on the Arms trade (both legal and illegal). I feel like the author who wrote this article used credible sources which made the author appear to be reliable. There isn't much in terms of Pathos but Ethos and Logos were used properly in this article. If I were to look into this more I would find other articles and look at the consistency between articles.

    1. It was inappropriate, it was offensive, it was condescending,” said one parent. “This is a liberal school. So I guess that’s the approach. But this was too much. To compare this to 9-11 – I think that’s just too much.

I can agree with the person in the quote above. Although my personal beliefs made me concerned with Trump's presidency I wouldn't go as far as comparing him becoming president with something as tragic as 9/11. Although I agree that many individual's lives will be impacted by his presidency, i wouldn't compare it to 9/11.

    1. Researchers at the University of Wisconsin surveyed more than 4,000 undergrads at community colleges across the country. The results? Twenty percent of students reported being hungry, 13 percent homeless.

As someone who understands the cost of a college education this is why I decided to click on this article. As one who believes the cost of college has become ridiculous the research in this confirms my beliefs. It isn't that hard to figure out. The higher the cost, the lower the income, the higher the borrowing, the more debt individuals gain. I agree with the author that federal governments should work together to find a way to help homeless college students find a place to live. If I were to research more on this I would look into more statistics and find articles containing more information on the cost of maintaining community colleges and if the cost of doing so has increased.

    1. Agriculture Department has removed animal welfare reports from its website, citing privacy and other laws. Various animal advocacy groups are urging the Trump administration to bring back access.

As someone who has always been an advocate for animal rights this article (well, video) was the first one that happened to catch my eye. This video was more of an interview so it was obviously biased towards the individual being interviewed but their view is one I'm in agreement with. I've heard about this issue before through various Facebook pages I follow and had done research on both sides but although the opposing side had tried to present evidence my morals just couldn't allow me to agree with them. If I were to look into this further than I already have I would look more into the privacy aspects and if they're truly for the benefit of the company because this indefinitely isn't humane and even if it does benefit industries, I don't believe animal's lives should be sacrificed for the benefit of the economy.

    1. "It's very important for the village to preserve its traditions. If large numbers of Muslims arrived here, they would not be able to integrate into the Christian community.

The fact that segregation and discrimination to this extent still occurs today in modern society is troubling to say in the least. The author uses some logos and also some pathos but probably uses Ethos the most. The author is definitely convincing and makes the reader upset (at least I was).

    1. Amnesty interviewed 84 people, including former guards, detainees and officials at Saydnaya prison for its report.

Ever since hearing about the crisis in Syria I've dedicated a lot of my time to learning as much as possible about this topic. The author is credible because of the numerous interviews and information from UN human rights experts. The logos isn't as strong in this piece which is understandable though because it is difficult getting exact numbers when the number of people hung isn't documented.

    1. According to Dr. Rignot, the collapse of Larsen C would add only a tiny amount of water to the global sea level. Of greater concern to scientists is how the collapse of ice shelves can affect the glaciers that flow behind them, because the melting of those glaciers can cause much higher levels of ocean rise

This article really drew me in because I've always cared about environmental health and especially how it impacts animals. The author of this story appears to be credible and by using facts given by experts increases their credibility which in turn helps with ethos. One appeal the author uses quite a bit is Logos. With statistics, images, and accounts of similar smaller events such as this one occurring in the past it hits the nail on the head in terms of logos. I terms of audience this appears to appeal to a more academic audience as well as possibly more youthful individuals (since environmental health at least portrayed in media is something millennials really care about and are working towards improving).

    1. There’s nothing. There’s some dead leaves or whatever, you can totally see the cars. So actually that doesn’t seem that weird to me.

This is when her previous "logos statements" (if you could even call it logos since it was based more on assumptions than facts) fall apart. At first the distance he traveled to use the restroom seemed absurd after walking to the location it seemed more than logical to travel that far to stay away from the view of others. Even where she was standing cars were still visible and the wasn't a whole lot of foliage.

    2. Yeah there’s barely anything showing. Wait are we supposed to be looking at something there? What is that? Is that her? That all he saw?

Her thesis for this episode is that Mr. S is the one responsible for committing the crime based on the information given about his "bathroom break" (which they describe for quite some time). Also Adnan wasn't the murderer because of him never going to "Linkin'" park because "why would a kid like him go there."

    3. Doesn’t appear to be a brandy drinker.

This is one aspect of this whole case that slightly troubles me. There's a lot of "He doesn't seem like he'd do this" or "He's too nice to do that" which isn't very logos bases but instead based on assumptions. This makes the narrator's information come off as biased and not reliable sounding.

    4. From This American Life and WBEZ Chicago it’s Serial. One story week by week. I’m Sarah Koenig.

Sarah Koenig immediately brings in the aspect of Ethos with her introduction to the episode. Since Ethos includes credibility stating the fact that she is from This American Life as well as WBEZ Chicago makes the listeners believe that she's a reliable source.
