    1. Because of variability, what students need is ever-changing and evolving.

yes!! What a single student needs can change very quickly and what students need each year also changes. Teaching should be flexible enough that depending on the individual student we can tend to their brains. Everyone is unique in every other way, we need to start accepting that all learners are unique as well.

    2. UDL creates a learning environment that is the least restrictive and most culturally responsive, trauma-informed environment for all students.

Education should accessible and feasible for all and without UDL majority of students are not achieving what they should. All learners are different and unique individuals and should be seen that way! A positive and comfortable learning environment could be a game changer for some students.

    1. While important, it takes more than everyone having comparable equipment and working WiFi for all children to get an equal shot.

I have been wondering during the pandemic how schools with less funding have been handing online learning. My hometown is lucky enough to provide I pad for all of our students but I know that is not a reality everywhere. I am curious how some school systems are making remote learning manageable with less funding.

    1. With the sudden push towards online education, surveillance tech companies have increased their sales of newer and even more invasive forms of academic surveillance

I feel like especially with the quick move to online academic surveillance is gonna be prevalent and developed more. I also feel like companies should be making EdTech tools that are accessible, helpful, engaging, and new for students to help them get the full learning experience. Focusing on surveillance right now feels not as great and is making the assumption that students will cheat.

    1. Each part of the SAMR model is valuable in different contexts

I have never heard of any of these models before so reading about them has been super interesting. Tech is so embedded into our lives now and in our classrooms, it is crucial to make sure they are actually valuable to our learning !! Students now will have a more effective and (hopefully) more fun experience with school, as long as we are integrating tech in well.

    1. appropriate digital tools and apps for the type of learning experience you want to create for your students.

It is so important to understand that different students will have different learning theories that work for them. Once that is realized the students learning becomes individual and personal to them which is so important. Making sure the appropriate tool and apps go to each student based on their learning style will not only help them succeed in class but also make them feel seen and heard in the classroom.

    1. Schools can provide consent for the parent when sites, services, tools, or apps are used for educational purposes only and the personal information collected about students is not used for commercial purposes.

All EdTech applications and Digital tools should have a COPPA policy. If the tool is created to help students/ teachers in the classroom then it should be compliant with these laws for the students protection. I honestly forget sometimes how big of a deal it really is for these sites to have all this information on you, I'm glad this class is reminding me!

    2. As educators, we must strive to create fully accessible learning environments for our students. This requires designing inclusive learning environments and evaluating the accessibility of digital tools and apps before using them in the classroom to ensure all learners have the same opportunities to access and engage with course content.

I believe accessibility in the classroom is becoming more and more common because educators are finally realizing that every student learns differently and may need certain in/out of class accommodations and that is ok!! Learning should be the bridge of equality for students, there is no reason the classroom should be inaccessible for any student. When a student doesn't receive the accommodations they need they may feel ignored or helpless in the classroom. Accessibility is a way to keep all students and learners engaged !

    3. Before using a tool in the classroom, you should examine whether it supports diverse learners

It is SO important to make sure the tools you use as an educator is inclusive to all learners! Make sure the tools have icons and characters that involve all your students. Along those lines also make sure your tool is accessible for students with disabilities of any kind.

    4. students will have the flexibility to post and present their work on different platforms,

Letting students decide which tool they wanna use for sharing their work can be super helpful and comforting for them. They get to choose how they receive feedback and it will be organized for them so they can never lose it.

    1. First, educational developers are using the rubric to review the tools and technologies profiled on the eLearning Toolkit,

This is something I would use as an educator. It is so important to be up to date with the new tools and kits for our classrooms but sometimes the teacher is the one who needs to learn! If I was a teacher before I took this class I would have had no idea how to find tools for class, so Toolkits like this would be extremely helpful. I think it is super cool that institutions are looking for ways to make education more proficient and also up to date.

    1. Create a Twitter account if you do not already use it professionally. If you already use Twitter for personal posts, you may want to create a separate account for your teaching.

I would have never thought about making a professional twitter account but after reading this it makes so much sense! Twitter has so much information and you can choose what you see and what interests you. This is a super cool way to interact with other educators and be able to bounce ideas off of each other.

    2. Keeping the SIFT model in mind when you conduct Internet searches will help you identify blogs, articles, websites, and videos that you can trust to provide accurate and reliable information that can guide your tool selection process.

This is so important to teach students at a young age! Having the skill to point out fake news will be helpful always, especially in the digital age we live in. Older generations (and even ours) were not always taught that information online can very often be false, so teaching students early is ideal.
