    1. When we design the same learning pathways for all learners, we might tell ourselves we are being fair, but in fact, single pathways are exclusionary.

I totally agree with this view. No two people will learn in exactly the same way and acknowledging this fact and being accommodating to it is essential in the classroom. Having different pathways for students will promote better learning for them by giving options on how they will best learn the information at hand. I think that this view needs to be talked about and acted upon more.

    1. Technology can be a powerful tool for transforming learning.

Since there are so many new tools that can be used in the classroom, I do think that technology is a powerful tool. There are countless online/digital/technological resources that students can use in order to gain knowledge. Growing up with technology is an awesome benefit for students.

    1. Many students had also mastered the basics of many digital tools, like knowing how to communicate online and how to create and share digital media. Most told me that they were the tech experts of their families

I think that in this day and age it is the new normal for children to be proficient with technology. Providing ways and curriculum to promote digital learning and give students and even better understanding of technology is really important. Technology and digital tools will always be a factor in everyones lives now, so ensuring future generations are accustomed to it will be beneficial for students.

    1. That is why we should look to embrace design approaches that are attentive to our learners for whom education has not typically been designed. Inclusive design and design justice provide frameworks and practices for doing so.

I totally agree that design should be used to be inclusive for all learners. This gives the ability for the framework to affectively help all students no matter their experience or ability to do work. Supporting all students should be essential in all classrooms.

    1. The ability of these programs to improve our lives is what makes them a beneficial technology to our everyday experiences, as well as our education systems

I think that it is very important that we are improving upon educational systems especially by using technology. Students learning in new ways has improved school systems greatly, so improving programs to make students lives better seems like another great step forward.

    2. Educational technologies continue to develop to assist student learning and achievement, and the integration of AI is becoming more common.

I think it is really important that educational technologies are improving in order to assist how students learn. Since technology is always advancing, it is important to keep students and educational systems up to date. Technology is an important factor in everyones lives now a days, so ensuring students are learning in the best and most productive way possible is very important.

    1. Ultimately, companies use the information and data they collect from you to make money, whether through advertisements, developing or improving services, or creating a profile with your data to sell to other companies. So, while it may be free to register and use a digital tool or app, you are paying for it by sharing your data and giving up your privacy.

It is interesting to me that we willingly put information into tools that they can use in the future to direct ads towards us. It's always so shocking when an ad comes up about something you were talking about a few hours before, but it really isn't surprising if you think about how much information you've put on the internet.

    2. When you register for an account, you are usually asked to share personally identifiable information, like your name, email address, age, and/or gender. You will also be asked to review and accept the end-user license agreement or terms of service, which may involve giving away even more data, such as your IP address, device information, browser information, geolocation, and Internet browsing data.

It is really scary to think about how many websites that I have willingly given my information to. In our day and age it is normal to put your information into sites/tools, but I think it is really good to learn awareness about whether or not giving your information to certain tools is the right thing to do.

    3. we will explore how educational technology (edtech) tools are constantly collecting, using, and sharing personal information, what this means for you as an educator, and how you can better protect your students.

I think this is an important topic to go over, not just for educators but also for students. Teachers should be aware of how safe/unsafe the tools they are providing for their students in order to ensure that students aren't putting personal information into unsafe websites.

    4. When evaluating a digital tool, you should examine whether all students can interpret and access all information provided by the tool.

Going over course content/evaluating digital tools is very important. Making sure that not only technical difficulties won't occur, but also ensuring that all students will be adequately able to access all the content is key.

    5. While evaluating an app for accessibility can be time consuming, it is critical to ensuring students have accessible and equitable learning experiences. And, the more you practice assessing accessibility, the easier it will become.

It is very important for all students to feel that they are able to have the same learning experience as their peers. Ensuring that all students have access to the same apps, tools and learning is something that should be in every classroom environment. Finding ways to always be able to provide access will positively impact their academic career.

    6. However, when you start the video in class, most students cannot hear it because the audio is too low and the volume of the computer speakers cannot be increased.

I have had this happen to me before in class and it normally causes the class to become disrupted and class time is wasted because of it. Having a plan of action as a teacher when there are technical difficulties is key to insure that time isn't wasted.

    7. Before using a tool in the classroom, you should examine whether it supports diverse learners. Make sure students can choose diverse icons, flags, gender marks, and characters without additional payment (paid membership or fees).

Ensuring that all the tools being used in the classroom are appropriate and accommodating for all students is exceedingly important. Having a classroom where students feel that they are being helped correctly in all aspects of school, including online tools, is key to a happy classroom

    8. A good user interface will only include controls directly connected to the user's current needs. For example, Canva, a graphic design tool, features only the design functions toolbar (which can be hidden) and the project workspace. This simple, but effective, user interface makes it easy for the user to focus their attention on the design project.

I believe that less is more in terms of websites. I personally get confused when there are too many options on a website because it makes it so that I am unable to find the tool that I am looking for. Having a user-friendly experience is a major reason that I would use a website again.

    9. Step-by-step tutoring: Step-by-step tutoring is easy to follow and students can practice the operations simultaneously, which allows for a hands-on, trial-and-error learning experience in a safe space (e.g., students can make mistakes and learn from their mistakes in a virtual sandbox rather than on their own projects).

I think that step-by-step tutoring is a very necessary in order to give instructions to students who may not understand where they are going wrong. Students being able to use trial and error learning is key to them learning and being able to understand how to do it on their own in the future.

    1. We have found these guides from Microsoft helpful for creating accessible documents in Microsoft Word and customizing the text for a hyperlink. You should also test class materials’ screen-reader compatibility, and we have found free screen readers (such as NVDA for Windows and VoiceOver for Mac) to be fully sufficient for our needs.

Creating alternative ways for all students to have access to their work over online tools is awesome for students. It isn't fair that students with disabilities have to figure out access to work on their own, being mindful of that is really important.

    2. Many, however, still haven’t received enough guidance on how to design remote instruction to meet such students’ needs and to comply with laws and regulations.

I think it is really important to be prepared for online learning with how our world is because of COVID. No one knows what the future holds, so ensuring that all students needs are met and that the learning complies with the regulations is a plan that should be in place in order for all students to have access to schooling.

    1. Depth - Your PLN should provide deep, quality interactions with others that are engaging, discovering, experimenting, reflecting, and sharing.

I think not only with a PLN, but also in life it is important to have quality interactions with people. Being able to go to your PLN for help and feeling as though they are able to help you is important in order to learn more about digital tools.

    2. When searching for digital tools, you can turn to your PLN for recommendations of new tools to try, examples of how a specific app can be used in a classroom setting, advice for how to use digital tools to address classroom challenges or meet instructional goals, and assistance for figuring out how to find and evaluate digital tools and apps for teaching and learning.

I had never heard of a PLN before, but having a network of people and tools to help get advice on a variety of digital outlets for learning is exceedingly helpful. I believe that everyone should have a PLN in order to make connections amongst their colleagues/peers which will help professional growth.

    3. Include specific details in your initial search, then add or remove terms to adjust the results (e.g., if “augmented reality” gives too many results, use “augmented reality map of national parks”).

I think that this is very helpful to know what to specifically put into the search bar to get the most accurate answer that you are looking for/searching up.
