    1. Homework is practice. Practice the skills we learned about in class so we can review and add to them.

This is why I like homework, but like I said, not so much all the time!!

    2. Home time is family time.

I totally agree with this! Family's get separated way more during the school year than during summer just because of the simple fact that the students are at school for hours. When they go home, they should be keeping that connection strong amongst one another!

    3. kindergartners were expected to complete a minimum of 30 minutes of homework a night

I feel this is way too young for homework! Their little brains work for 7 hours a day. Once the last bell rings, they should be done.

    1. They know that in order to get students to truly take responsibility for their own education, the curriculum must relate to their lives, learning activities must engage their natural curiosity, and assessments must measure real accomplishments and be an integral part of learning.

I totally agree with this! When I was young, learning content that did not relate to my life or give me excitement was hard!

    2. Many teachers today, however, are encouraged to adapt and adopt new practices that acknowledge both the art and science of learning.

I feel it can be hard for teachers at time to constantly be changing their teaching strategies and content! I feel this way and I am not a teacher yet!

    3. teaching is recognized as one of the most challenging and respected career choices

I feel like this is an opinion rather than a fact. Teaching is HARD. Respected is not a word I would associate with teaching. I feel as if teachers have so much thrown at them and some schools do not do a good job in showing gratitude for their hard work!

    1. When a concern arose about a particular student's progress, teachers in the team held a review session to examine the student's work and behavior using their pooled experiences and insights.

I think this is very helpful for teachers. Teachers can join together and brainstorm ideas for helping students and meeting their needs!

    2. She concluded that one of her biggest challenges as a teacher would be to discover each student's unique strengths and find ways to use them to overcome the student's weaknesses.

Great teacher! Build off the students weaknesses and challenges so they become more proficient and confident in other areas.

    3. She engaged in long discussions with her professors and fellow students about how John's physical and social development affected his academic performance and talked about how these areas could be supported and stretched. She noticed that the boy was proficient in some skills, such as building models, but struggled with others, like reading.

I feel like we see this more and more in schools recently.

    4. Her professors didn't lecture from textbooks or measure learning with multiple-choice tests. Instead, they modeled the strategies Maria herself would use as a teacher; they created learning opportunities that enabled their students to apply knowledge in real teaching situations.

I think for education, this is the best way to teach a future teacher, hands on, teaching possible scenarios, etc. Teachers need the experience and opportunities to watch a classroom in action to learn. Memorizing content can help learn new material but its the experience and hands on learning that will help them as a teacher in the long run!

    5. In courses on teaching practices and curriculum development, she learned ways to engage students in experiences that allow them to integrate skills into hands-on activities and to conduct their own inquiries and experiments.

I relate to this! I love learning teaching strategies to help my students!

    6. For the next generation of teachers, getting there will be exciting, but it won't be easy. Education students will find that it's harder to become proficient; there's more to study, more to learn, more to practice.

I am confused on what this is supposed to mean?
