The underlying data have been published in DataverseNO (Hansen et al., 2026).
different formatting here than in the examples above

within three working days
see earlier comments on this. can all institutions commit to 3 days at all times? if not, maybe better to not promise too much here...

This allows the curation team to assist with preparing an anonymized dataset version if required and to support secure sharing with editors and reviewers.
I suggest putting this in a single paragraph with the sentence above
-
f you provide both a preferred preservation format and an original working format, use identical file names except for the file extension. Example: experiment_01.csv and experiment_01.xlsx.
repetition from earlier?
-
upload
I think I commented on this elsewhere. Not sure it is clear for everyone. Maybe put "(e.g., a folder)" after upload?
-
Remember to explicitly acknowledge the Indigenous community’s collective rights over the data in the dataset documentation. Include information both in the README file and the metadata, e.g. in the Contributor field
While of course important, is this a common enough situation that it warrants a "pop up box" in the guide? I for one have not come across this situation in the datasets I have curated over the last couple of years
-
Manuscripts under review
I recommend adding a part here about that the Related Publication metadata field can be updated with the complete article citation at a later stage when the article is published. A new version of the dataset is then published. You can perhaps provide a link to Step 5.
-
Each keyword should be entered in its own keyword field.
this is one of the single most common issues curators have to fix. maybe highlight it in some way. maybe a separate box?
-
Look up the author via ORCID by typing the author’s name and selecting the correct match from the results list. Enter the name manually if an ORCID record is not available.
see comment about ORCID above
-
Click your username in the top right corner, select Account Information, click Add Authenticated ORCID, and follow the instructions.
Not sure if it is worth mentioning, here or elsewhere, that deponents should verify that their names (surname, first name) are correctly entered into their ORCID profile, otherwise there might be problems when their names are harvested into DataverseNO metadata

You do not need to get everything perfect from the start.
but maybe point out somewhere that it will save a lot of time during the curation process if the dataset is prepared according to the guidelines
-
Step 1: Prepare your data: provides the full guidance on organizing, documenting, and preparing your dataset for publication.
Not very clear here that this is the first out of five steps.
Maybe write something like "Follow the complete deposit guidelines: starting with Step 1, which provides full guidance..."

aspects?

The guidelines explain how to (1) prepare your data, (2) deposit them in the repository as a dataset, (3) publish it, (4) refer to it, and if needed, (5) modify your dataset after it is published.
this part if perhaps a bit redundant, considering considering the same text/info is shown immediately below

You will normally receive an initial response from a curator within three working days after submitting the dataset for review.
this part can perhaps be deleted. i am sure this is not always the case for every partner institution
-
Confirm that you are in the correct collection for your dataset. If not, navigate to the appropriate collection before continuing.
is it possible to clarify briefly how people can know which is the correct collection? i.e. their institutional collection for most cases
