Practice only makes better and allows me to remember.
It requires continuous feedback on results.
We do a lot of feedback in Public Speaking regarding the presentations we have delivered. I think this method works well because I have been able to apply the feedback given to me from my peers. The feedback allowed me to work on my growth areas.
I do my best to keep this in mind
I always rehearse the information that inside of my mind when I go to sleep. It helps me remember the information I absorbed.
you have to be “fully absorbed” in your practice for it to truly be effective. This is partly a matter of discipline
For my upcoming presentation, I will be talking about my strongest skill that is memorization. I do believe someone has to be disciplined in order to fully absorb the material in context. Because memorization is my strongest skill, I will be able to deliver it effectively.
you can motivate yourself to read and take notes on the whole thing
This sentence sticks out to me because I use this skill to delivery my speeches effectively. I take notes on everything that I read, and I make sure I only highlight important facts that allow me to use for my speeches.
I feel the author of the article should include some of the perks Year Up gives to those who do commit body and mind to the program besides the internship.
I mentioned before that few associates have informed me that if you do not have any connections in an office job; it will be hard to get a job in that corporate job.
The article focused enough in how Year Up helps in closing the opportunity divide. I partially agree with this sentence because yes a student must behave and act professional when is on and off site. However, Year Up works well using a point system that allows students to measure themselves.
while employers complain that they can’t find enough qualified workers for jobs that don’t require college degrees. Year Up takes students who might not otherwise know how to negotiate the working world and gives them the skills they need to make it in in-demand jobs.
Most of the people I have been around in have said "people can get into an office job only if they have a connection". I can connect with this topic because I do have an Associate's degree and I have been actively applying to many office jobs. However, no office job wanted to give me opportunity so I decided to come to Year Up so I can be trained and shaped me into a professional.
Let America be America again.Let it be the dream it used to be.Let it be the pioneer on the plainSeeking a home where he himself is free. (America never was America to me.) Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed—Let it be that great strong land of love
"Let it be the dream it used to be." This sentence stood out to me because my parents came to the United States to achieve the American dream. When they were in Mexico they had in mind that the United States is a country were dreams can come true. I agree with them because in the United States anything is possible only if those work hard to strive for the "American Dream".
causing people to spend too much time on them and distracting them from living their lives.
I spend almost five hours scrolling on my phone. Technology with social media has become very addictive and takes lots of time out of someone's day.
School-age children need 9 to 11 hours of sleep every night in order to be physically and mentally healthy.
Meanwhile, adults need about 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. This reminds me of the discussion we had in class: Why sleep is important?
