    1. With Ivan’s broken english, you can understand the point he is trying to get to but with Joe’s own dialect of english, it is often too difficult to understand.

      Being a part of this subculture not only changes who they are at BC but also how they interact with others on the daily

    2. Joe in his Courage to Know class he “doesn’t have a clue when [they] talk about Catholic traditions and beliefs” since he was not raised Catholic.  For Joe, sometimes he does not know what they are talking about in class which makes it more difficult for him to follow along.

      In America, it is common that if you attend a Jesuit school you know at least some about Catholic traditions and beliefs, either because that is how you were raised or you were educated on it but that is not always the case in England, making it more difficult for Joe.

    3. When I think about how extravagant my own dorm room is, I never realized how difficult it would be for them to bring any extra decorations or storage. Ivan comments on the fact that the room “doesn’t really feel like home” because there was nothing he could bring other than his wardrobe.

      I added this in as a comparison to how people in this subculture have differences from my own life (and dorm) and possibly the readers lives.

    4. begin to ask Ivan questions, Joe pauses his game of Fifa, puts down his Xbox controller, and begins to reply to my questions directed towards Ivan with answers of his own.

      I proof read and revised my essay so the same tense was used throughout the essay
